glad you like it. still figuring the cam out. i learned that the LCD shows the image way brighter than it actually turned out. so alot of things that i thought i exposed properly were actually super dark when i got them onto the comp. but the biggest difference between this cam and my minolta is that in these dark, sometimes almost black, images there was actually data there to work with and lighten up into a workable images - with the minolta dark images were dark images, and you were just screwed. i got a brilliant idea...well...i stole the idea really, but i remembered it and want to do it at the theatre...so i will be going back soon, some day when i can get out of bed before 2pm. i started it but then my friends (a group of like 10 ppl) showed up and it was impossible to take a shot without a person in it haha

(chuckle)... friends and art don't mix well for you?...

there's a couple things you can do about your lcd... i believe you can adjust the lcd to reflect better what you actually see... which would help... but... the brighter screen does help when it comes to it comes to composing in low light situations...

the other option (and the better one in my opinion) is too review the histogram as well as the image after you make your exposure... that way you know definitively whether or not the image is too dark or too light... if you're not sure what that a histogram is, then check out this site (ignore that salary-crap example) and this site ... they are both informative and relatively simple...

i'll have to check those sites out cuz i have no idea what the histogram shows haha. i may turn the lcd brightness down a bit, that'll help i think.

friends and art are fine, especially in what i do, but sattler is a very small place and 10-12 ppl there like yesterday, they're everywhere haha.

the histogram is a chart... it shows the range of density in the image... with it, you can see if the image is more dark than light... more light than dark... or if you have unprintable areas in the image...

ok... that is the worst explanation ever... if you're curious, check out the links... they do a much better job than i...

haha its more than i knew. i dunno if this is standard on other d-slrs but one thing nikon does is if you take a pic where an area has no data, the very bright white areas, those areas flash on the lcd to let you know that there is no data there...it can be helpful
