This is a tribute to the song Keep Quiet by The Protomen . Our protagonist Joe steps up to challenge the sniper robot. It takes serious balls to challenge an evil killer robot to a back alley knife fight. Even more to WIN. I wanted to capture that here. The hot blooded hero standing up against the embodiment of oppressive authority. The sniper robot's lone red eye is a symbol of oppression, and the slogan "Keep quiet" telling the world not to speak out for fear of reprisal by the silent enforcers of Wily's tyranny.

Most won't speak out because they fear having their cushy existence taken away. The people of Wily's city have become dumb animals who only exist for their own comfort. The few who sense something wrong are kept in line by something stronger than appeasement, fear. And then there's Joe. He can't be bought, and he won't be silenced. He won't stop until he's brought the whole thing crashing down.

I wanted to capture all of that in this pic. The tyranny of wily covering the dystopian setting surrounding Joe, and the use of perspective making the sniper robot appear much larger, while Joe further back appears to be one man dwarfed by his enemy and his surroundings, who still won't be backed down. Moreover I tried to capture the very essence of cyberpunk.
