Oh man spring is here! And so are all those dandelion shots you've been seeing on dA lately I'm sure you're sick of them, but I figured I'd have a go at it anyway. Not too bad for my second attempt I'd say
I used the "left hand brace" technique, in which you hold the subject in your left hand, holding the camera with your right hand and bracing it on your left wrist. This essentially "bonds" the subject and the camera to the same plane, which reduces blur caused by camera shake. I used digital macro mode, white balance set to cloud, and dropped the exposure by about 1/3 step to prevent loss of detail on the bright dandelion head.

Nope, I rarely use a tripod at all If necessary, I'll balance the camera on a railing or use the "left hand brace" technique, described here [link]

There are some really cool "hacks" that you can download to a PowerShot digital camera that allows it to do things that most digital point and shoots can't do

Thank you! ^^ I really got lucky with that part, the sun slid behind some clouds for a bit, so the lighting conditions were perfect Since then, I haven't been able to duplicate this shot
