Yep, some more TFA based fanart, an OC of mine, and one of the babies from "The Horde" ([link] ) all grown up. So here is Fireant, off-spark of 's OCs Wisp and Nightwail. He's their fifth child, with Wisp as the mommy. And to be perfectly honest, of all their babies I think he's my favorite.Took a different approach with this then I do with most dA submissions. The line-work is all pencil. ^^ Color is still digital, but the feeling is different, yes? I like it.

Thanks! He likes to blow stuff up and set things on fire. Good fun! (scary thing is he manages to join the autobot military. But at least there he gets permission to go crazy)

Aw, but you could draw all of Blackarachnia's buggy offspring. There's a firefly, a dragonfly, this little ant here, multiple spiders... and I think Ladybug probably is a lady bug. Remember, panels can flip and rotate in the strangest ways.

His organic tissue is arachnid. His physical form comes from his technological part. For example, Firefly. This is why he could be venomous and be a car, later a firefly: the organic tissue determined function, not shape.

The AllSpark is also playing around with shapes and imitating organics. It's using Blackarachnia as its starting point and branching out from there. Right now, that means bugs. In a few millennia? You may see a greater variety of animal alt-modes.

Possibly both. Even when Bee babies don't grow up to be little badasses (Firefly may not be at the top of the game, but don't screw with Elite Prime just to be safe), there's something to give you pause (like sweet, adoring Wisp having been freakin' Waspinator in his past life).
Oh, man, this is why Puna and Firefly really shouldn't spawn. They might have a cat girl.

Before I start gushing over the specifics and the concept, another statement of how much your art just amazes me. Your style is both crisp and fluid; you work with both bold colors and shadows. Even if this weren't a baby of my babies, I think I'd still be staring at it.
Fireant! I think he gets his crazy from his daddy via grandma- not that Screamer is nuts, he's just the most likely source of this coding. He's a good twist on the Blackarachnia model, but also with a striking resemblence to Bumblebee... which is funny considering Firefly. (It's just occurred to me that anyone who tries making comparisons between these two- based solely on shared head shape and name likeness- would probably get smacked by Firefly. I bet Fireant annoys him, although he's probably mildly annoyed at the Horde on principle.) I love that he has Screamer feet. I really like Starscream's high heeled boots.

^^ Thanks! I'm sometimes insecure about my coloring. I've had people (teachers and fellow artists) say I use too much color and stuff. I forget sometimes to remind myself that it's a matter of personal taste, and style, and that if I like it there must be others out there that do to. ^^
Yeah, I don't see Fireant getting the crazies from Bee or Blurr. Not BA either. Fireant's feet are a combo of BA and Screamer feet. The heels are a little more based on BA, and the non-robotic/non-jointed bit too, as well as that jagged stripe. The thickness and general shape of them is Starscream. I find the comparison to Firefly hilarious! xD

I'm not an art expert or even artist, so I can't speak as to where they might be coming from. Certain things wouldn't fit the color choices you've made here. It's a good palate for Fireant and TFA work in general (the show is quite bold with its colors)- however, you've done pieces where this boldness wouldn't fit and obviously recognized it because you went with other choices. (Case in point: [link] . "Bold" describes the line art, but not the colors. And it was the right choice, IMHO. Here's one where you've got a mix, but it still feels hazy and what parts are bold draws focus: [link] )
Ditziness comes from Bee. Anyone on the ball is Blurr. (Weirdly, Firefly shows more Blurr traits than Wisp, but that's influence rather than coding.) Blackarachnia probably loves the Horde but wonders how in the universe a cluster of bright, happy things could possibly have come from her source material.
Remember last night on AIM, talking about Wisp setting Fireant on Firefly's head? If that happened, Firefly would be more than annoyed. He'd yowl in pain- he has exposed organics up there! (We will not discuss the fact that this is also an erogenous zone and anyone who's not Punthali had better touch it lightly!)
The Blitzy stuff is cute and funny! Just try not to think about how the relationship is doomed.

Well, she's probably where Nightwail got his emo. (I think some of Firefly's "darker" characteristics came from her. I wouldn't say he holds grudges, but if he thinks he can't trust you, he takes that very seriously. At least he's not foolish about it. He very much wanted to take a shot at Megatron after what Megs put him through, but was the first bot to admit that he didn't have much hope of succeeding at that, so he didn't make it a goal.) I see Spyscream as having a playful seductiveness, which is a lighter version of what BA has. Sneakiness and a sort of devious thinking leaning slightly towards self-interest; you could say that comes from Starscream, but I think Screamer and BA have their own flavors of it. The Horde probably aren't very much like Screamer, unless it's pre-war Screamer (I lift from G1 that he used to be a scientist; he decided he liked blowing things up and lording over people much better).

Weirdly, I don't see Bee as cheerful! By that, I mean he isn't a perpetual optimist- yeah, he's fun loving, but he's not the guy who's going to give the rallying cry and tell everyone to cheer up and look on the bright side. (That would be Bulkhead, I think; Optimus probably does it just for morale, not his personal belief.) He'll grouse and bitch if he doesn't like what's happening and he has a trail of broken dreams behind him. I see him as trying to ignore his own tragedy. When you think about it, in canon, his life has been a joke. And it's largely due to the whole Shockwave/Wasp mess.

I haven't put too much thought into what started the war and what the sides represent. I am incredibly curious, but as far as OS is concerned, exploring that I think would detract from what's really the point; I don't want Firefly debating the merits of his relationship with Blackarachnia based on philosophical and sociological points or any ideology, but how he feels about her and her about him. Likewise, nobody's hate for a particular Decepticon is rooted in their opinion but for what they do to them. It's an odd gap in the series, but not one I intend to fill. I do suspect that the rift had something to do with flight capability and that's why Decepticons are fliers and Autobots are not; the faction, for the most part, developed along those lines.
I don't think Screamer gave a fart- or much of a fart- about the ideology behind the war. He just wanted power. He wanted respect. But I think the reason he couldn't be satisfied as Megatron's second is not because he couldn't handle someone above him (although later this might have proven to be the case), but that Megs was fairly scathing and degrading to him anyway.

It is an odd gap in the show, not saying what the war is about or how it started. Seems like some of them must have forgotten the root if it was about flight capabilities because Optimus's crew (minus Ratchet) were surprised the Decepticons could fly, and later the autobots use Screamer to make their own flight capable bots. (Why didn't they do this sooner? Didn't they get any prisoners during the war? or even offline decepticons who they could have taken a looksie at to figure it out? Why now? Why Screamer?)
Yeah, I do believe Screamer is in it for the glory and power. If it was all about the cause he'd follow Megs whether he liked him or not (possibly).

I don't think the root was solely flight capacities, but something about that caused something to become apparent or something came out of it. Decepticons are bigger and stronger as a race- now why is that? But do they have access to protoforms? I suspect not. (Other than what Lockdown stole- which is maybe why they had Lockdown steal them. Bastard.)
