Yay, my first tutorial!!
I really hope someone finds this helpful. Sorry people with slow internet, huge file.I don't go into little nitty details, there are plenty of tutorials that do and I feel like I would be repeating them. Plus it would make this tutorial about 10 pages long instead of 2 pages. This shows my process, at least with Sleipnir's Rage and describes elements that were key in the process. I am assuming that viewers know their way around Photoshop, at least on a basic level, with this tutorial.

Brilliant tutorial! I especially like how you made him be dappled grey. That is one of the hardest colours to reproduce realistically, so well done and thank you!

Thank you! I was hopeful that somebody might find all this useful. The traditional folklore description of Sleipnir is that he was a grey horse. Since greys can come in such a variety I picked a dark dapple coat to reflect the "stormy" personality that I always associate with Sleipnir.
