You have a lineart layer yeah? A layer with the outlining of the picture. If you lock it you can colour it any colour you like!

Do you have photoshop or opencanvas? On photoshop to lock a layer there a little button above the layers with a lock picture. Press that and you lock it. On opencanvas (well on mine) there's a box with 'preserve transparency' next to it. You click on the box and it will lock the layer. Once you lock a layer you can't do anything with anything else except with what's on that layer. Hope that makes sense.

oooooooh i see. unfortunately i have oc 1.1 and therefore it does none of that cool stuff. but i can do it on ps, thanks!

One which fades at each end, rather than a 'hard' edged brush. Or one with a low opacity.
