Description
Soft pastel. I've always been fascinated with the elegance of dance and particularly in ballet. Degas is one of my heroes and this is kind of dedicated to him. Like most of my work, I would like this topic to be in a series of like pictures.Related content

It is a beautiful drawing! I do ballet and I agree that there is so much elegance in ballet. The drawing does show that to me

Thank you for the compliment. Maybe some day I could do a ballet drawing of you and feature you on my sight. I'm looking for a sequel to this one.

I don't think I'm good enough, because I dance just one hour in a week.... but I may do know people who spend more time in the ballet studio...

First, I must apologize for having not added you to my watch list. It was totally unintentional, but unforgivable nevertheless. Thank you very much, you have always been such good support, and I really like your work, also. Your friend

Is Okay I really didn't notice but am glad to be your friend. As far as liking my work I am glad you do but, I also know art is very subjective and we aren't always going to like everything so I don't really take it too personally if someone doesn't
This is my heart, my work, as I am sure others feel the same way about theirs. I must say though,I truly ADORE your work!!!!

Go for the series!! I was thinking about doing a series of legs and feet also, but in heels.
Once again, great work and a great idea for a series.

Look at all these comments! That's gotta' make a guy happy. I really like this one. I liked it on your wall, and I like the way it came out here, too. The form is very strong, and the colors work very well to support that form. I like how you've used colors that are, for the most part, less intense than you usually do. There are some pretty faded brownish-pinks on those legs, and the wood of the floor has a lot of grays in it. It really makes for a striking image of something that is both tense (muscles) and gracefully at ease. Nice one.

Thank you sir Jeff. As I've told you, I fly by the seat of my pants with color. I do it differntly each time. Thanks again for the help.

Amazing it is, then, that you "fly by the seat of your pants" in using your color. That trip must be somewhat like a ten-star roller coaster speeding through a tropical wildflower bed...

The one I'm trying to finish now will give you a real good look into my method or non-method if you will. I would say it's more like a ten-star roller coaster on halucinagenics, speeding through a wildflower bed listening to Led Zeplin. As I told you before, when I was in college the teacher said I didn't know why the hell I was doing what I do, but instictually it seemed to work. I'm sure some will debate whether it works or not.

Those who would debate it would be standing on very shakey ground, since the ground you stand on has strong elements of Monet, Degas, Gaugin, and only the best part of Central American painting styles I'm familiar with... I say, "Keep on Truckin,'" because it's my favorite saying from the 70s and seems somehow to be appropriate. It really works better with a CB, though.

I think it's great to intellectualize. Brainstorming is wonderful, but in my artwork I',m already tight enough with my lack of freedom in style, that any chance I get to liberate myself I take it. Usually that comes in the form of not figuring everything out before I start the drawing. There's nothing wrong with the other approach of having it all done before the first stroke, it's just not my approach. What do you mean by a CB, not to show my ignorance?

What do I mean by a "CB"? Uh, well, that would be a "Citizen-Band radio," oh-Uncle-of-mine... Ahhhh, I try and forget the 70s, too...
Ha. Maybe we SHOULD have played Trivial Pursuit this last weekend--I might have thumped ya' for the first time, though Camille would likely have smashed me to a pulp anyway... DAMN the pink and the orange!

"CB", it's all coming back to me now. I don't know if that is a good thing. Trivial Pursuit, is there an ancient version?

Don't know. I have the original version, which is pretty ancient (almost 30 years old). It was coming out when CBs were beginning their decline...
