Description
Having noticed I hadn't drawn any full fanart of The Raccoons this year I thought it would be fun to see what it would be like if they were still going in the 2010s. I think that regardless of the ever changing face of technology around them, the characters will still remain pretty much just as likable!There are a few things that you will easily spot between the two pictures;
* In the 1980s Bert plays a real guitar. But today he'd probably have as much fun with something like 'Guitar Hero'.
* The Raccoons have an ordinary TV and a VCR in the 1980s. Today they have a LCD TV complete with Playstation 3, Wii and DVD player!
* Lisa uses a brick phone in the 1980s (which would have been considered a luxury at the time!), now she has the same phone most of us carry!
* Throughout the course of the series Bentley had a laptop computer that was the size of a small suitcase. Now he has a netbook!
* Ralph LOVED his record deck and walkman in the 1980s. Today I imagine he will have traded it in for something like an iStation for his MP3 player!
* Though not shown, Melissa would now have a digital camera instead of one that uses film.
* You may also notice the portrait of The Raccoons' creator Kevin Gillis (I'm not great at charicatures!) changes in accordance to the time period, yet The Raccoons themselves haven't aged!
It is interesting what difference three decades makes!

I'd love to see your version! I'm also somewhat looking forward to a reboot but the style is something I gotta get used to. XD

This looks almost like my OCs styles.
Everything in 2010s technology but with styles from the 1980s.

Lately, I kept saying to myself: "If The Raccoons is such a great show, then why hasn't it gotten a revival or reboot yet!?" Then, I got an idea for who could voice who on the proverbial Raccoons reboot! I know it's not Len Carlson, but I really think Scott Mccord should be THE voice for a more modern Bert Raccoon! Melissa and Ralph should be voiced by Julie Lemieux and Cory Doran respectively. And Cyril Sneer? Jamie Watson could voice him in his Coach Halder voice! (But because of B.S.&P, Cyril can't smoke his 'cig And Bentley and his folks should cameo in the premiere!

Gillis hinted of a reboot so I'd think Dwayne Hill would do a wicked Bert since he replaced Carson as Minimus on Atomic Betty. And Susan Roman could reprise Melissa and Lisa Lougheed as Lisa (who else?).
And how about Cree Summer as Bentley? He briefly voiced Numbuh 88 on Operation: G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S.

Yeah I'm sorry but I can't agree with you on this! If Raccoons is to have reboot, I don't WANT Dwayne Hill to voice Bert! I'd much rather it be Scott Mccord! Why? Because I think Raccoons should do a couple things differently for modern times! First off: Bert Raccoon Cannot Force people into his Peanut Butter lifestyle because more people Die of Peanut Allergy than die of War in Vietnam Every Day! (Sorry about that part! I really liked what Luanne said on King of the Hill so much that I use it in things!) And as I also stated, Cyril CANNOT have his stogie! And I'd much rather hear Julie Lemieux voicing Melissa! I also think Bailey Stocker (John Stocker's daughter!) should be Lisa's voice in this!
And I think Joanne Vannicola should be Bentley's voice!

I was thinking Alyson Court could do Lisa. She's an excellent singer too on account of her being Loonette on The Big Comfy Couch.

Hey, I ain't allergic to no peanuts! In fact, for Bert,Β peanut butter is his thang.

It may have been the Original Bert's Thang back in the day, but it can't really be New Bert's Thang because of changing times. It doesn't matter if YOU'RE not allergic to peanuts but they're plenty of people who don't have your luck! And I didn't say that Bert could no longer have it in the reboot, just downplay it. You know, have it be a little more subtle. Perhaps even....making it into a Funny Background Moment!

The show's creator himself, Kevin Gillis, has hinted at a possible revival. He mentioned it some time last year ^^. I'm all for it

BENTLEY MAY BE A COMPUTER GENIUS, BUT HE'S VASTLY INFERIOR TO ME. THAT'S BECAUSE HIS BRAIN IS ANALOGUE INSTEAD OF DIGITAL. HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A NETNAVI! *INSERT DIGITAL LAUGHTER HERE*

well....... at least looking's free, and journals are private, so... fan mades are non-profit, eh? well, i just got my Blue Ray Reader back and running after 8 months, so as just as i get home tonight i'll go up night watching all movies and episodes over and over again until i know where every leaf will fall, and i'll won't be happy if i don't dream with that, and in the next day i'll skip work to make a whole lot of drawings and get something together!
Oh my! I've not realized i still got my Blue Ray Discs up until i talked to you! They say ignorance is a bliss, and questioning is the key, so... your F.U.D. inspired me! It is very weird, but thanks a whole lot!

Well...I was just joking. I still think about the day I first saw this awesome artwork and the artwork had inspired me to produce a cartoon which I had put on my YouTube, "The Raccoons - The New Generation". Watch that cartoon and you will see The Raccoons wake up to the year 2015 after sleeping in the hypersleep capsules for 23 years after their final episode back in 1992. I could write a Raccoons fan fiction story to cover the rest of "The Raccoons - The New Generation".

I first saw this artwork on 13/07/2011 when I googled "The Raccoons - images". The artwork was awesome especially when I had listened to today's pop/rock music on the radio stations on my mp3 player at this minute and had re-lived the 80s by listening to my old LPs playing 80s songs on the record player at this minute. I saw the artwork again at this minute and I still like it and I had signed up to deviantart at this minute. I haven't scanned my artworks yet. They will turn up soon.
I first saw The Raccoons when I watched "The Raccoons And The Lost Star" on VHS when I was 12 back in 1987. The cartoon had inspired me. I still enjoy watching Bert Raccoon on my YouTube.
