Description
When I was little and growing up in the early 1990s, 'Alvin & The Chipmunks' was one of my weekday afternoon and saturday morning favourites. I've seen the 2007 live action film that resurrected the franchise for the second time; it wasn't a great movie but speaking as an adult who likes kids shows, I think that had I been born 15 years later than I was then I would probably have loved it along with the rest of this generation of youngsters.Still, I don't like their redesigns very much - the new chipmunks look and act rather ugly sometimes. So I decided to draw my first Chipmunks fanart with a bit of aggro coming from their MTV generation counterparts, whom I think are the superior Chipmunks!
I also drew this to honour Ross Bagdasarian Jr, who turned 60 just a day or so ago. Since his father, the creator of The Chipmunks, Ross Bagdasarian Sr (aka David Seville) passed away, Ross Jr has since been in charge of the characters along with his wife Janice Karman.
Oh, and for the record Simon and Alvin were always my fave chipmunks, though I recently have come to like the Chipettes as well ^^

I think that the live action ones are kinda cute. Maybe sometimes they can look uncanny, but other times they're adorable. Also since that it was a live action movie, it makes sense to make them more realistic.

I grew up with Alvin and the chipmunks. In fact, the music that I love today was basically introduced by them. My favorite VHS tape was rockin through the decades. I was introduced to people like Michael Jackson, The Beatles and many more. I always always adored Alvin. He was so cute in the 80s and 90s show. But I hated the movie. I thought they all were ugly looking with their gangster hoodies and less animated faces. At least the new TV show has their old look.

The tv show was nice enough to give them a tail too. Honsetly I think that all of them look cute ( including the live action ones).

They are cute in a certain way. It's just the fact that they look like they're from the ghettos. In my opinion, at least.

It does which is nice. I wonder what the story subject matter is like.

I think I remember seeing some reruns of the '80s cartoon on Cartoon Network as a small child, but don't really have much of a connection to it...I should probably go give it more of a look-see one of these days. That said I'm sure beyond a shadow of a doubt it's better than the CGI movies! Though like you said, if I were a little younger than I was when they came out (I was 15...I think...when the first one came out, so perhaps if I were 5-10 years younger than I am), I might've loved 'em. I must admit I was a more immature person as a child-you're talking to someone who grew up reading Captain Underpants as a boy
As for the Chipmunk music itself, I'm sure it made for a fascinating and strange novelty back in the day...but nowadays anyone can easily make their own Chipmunked version of any song ever by just downloading Audacity and turning the pitch up a lot Have done that more than a few times and it's kind of fun-Chipmunk Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple sound hilarious!

I love this cartoon. I am a fan of the 80's Chipmunks, and this cartoon perfectly shows my hatred for the new movies. They suck!

There's a new TV series out now which actually doesn't look half bad at least ^^. But the movie series is still here as well, like an alternate universe, and not a very good one at that.

I've never been a fan of the CGI Alvin & the Chipmunks movies. I've always found the Chipmunks in those moviesΒ to very annoying, especially Alvin. Alvin just gets under your skin. I also don't like the way theyΒ try to make themΒ act gangsta. I despise that! You don'tΒ need the Chipmunks to act cool and hip and urban just to appeal to kids! I personally don't like hip-hop, I know there are some good hip-hop songs out there, but it's just not my kind of music. I'm more into '90s grunge and alternative metal. As for the new Chipmunks, they simply don't compare to older ones. Maybe I should watch the Chipmunk Adventure movie.

I didn't like their gangster look either. I hate hip hop music with a passion. I have to admit though that in the 80s and 90s rap was fun to dance to. And now it's about being a pimp, using the n word, and being a drug dealer. And alot of rap singers these days were taken off the streets. For example, a rap singer called 50 cent was a drug dealer before his fame. My favorite classic rock station was turned into a hip hop station which makes me even more pissed and hateful towards rap.

I agree. Hip-Hop used to be about bringing up messages and fighting to make your voice heard. Now it's all about being hip and current. WTF? How do you go from thisΒ m.youtube.com/watch?v=TMZi25Pqβ¦ to this?Β m.youtube.com/watch?v=a2v_zGWaβ¦

I understand how you feel about the new chipmunks, i was born in the 90 and grew up with such shows as the chipmunks. seeing them destroyed with the new stuff is as heartrending as heck

I see your point but the old chipmunks act kinda... Odd sometimes too. The new ones basically are the same, but look more realistic and act more modern.

I totally agree. I really hated those live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. The good old Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon shows are way better than that live-action junk. I loved that 80s cartoon show when it used to run on Cartoon Network back when I was in elementary school. And once again, the good old Alvin and the Chipmunks from the 80s was the best of the series ever.

I spent hours rewatching the 80s cartoon on youtube the other day, and the first thing I thought was, "those chipmunks had hearts." These new ones, not only do they look like they could give you rabies, but they are too pop-culture oriented.

OMG I love this! I use to love watching the Chipmunks on a Saturday morning when I was 5! I hate the new ones. They didn't do them right! Alvin was just strange, Theodores voice was too high and the Chipettes..UGH GOD WHAT HAVE THEY DONE??! I hope they bring them back to CN Or Nick or even Disney! x

Okay this fanart looks cool.
And I think it fits the image just perfectly.
Although, Alvin,- Alvin? ALVIN!!!!! You're going to need something better than a guitar.
You know, I rather go with the 80s chipmunks rather than the current ones.
