Description This is a fictional design in my original story ROBOTWARS.

Type 4 Yo-Yo Add-on Armor(四式ヨヨ追加装甲板) was a rushed order from the army in November 1944 to improve the protection of the Type 97 Chi-Ha Kai Medium Tank.
The Yo-Yo was Simply just a 10mm steel plate with a few gears and holes to make the armor detachable.
Nothing special on the surface and it was pretty odvious that this was a rushed job however just because it was rushed didn't mean thought wasn't put into the design.
It's spacey for one thing, making sure that the armor wouldn't interfere with the wheels of the caterpillars. And it was also placed in a way that kept the center of gravity balanced.
And most importantly, this armor kept soldiers safe from Bazooka rounds from American marines.

The insignia on the side of the tank is that of the 26th Tank Regiment that fought on the island of Iwojima. In the LTS.No5 where this add on was ordered into survice.
The add on wouldn't be seen until day Seven of the American invasion.

I hope ops you enjoy and like always tell me your thoughts and leave a comment ^_^

Looks a bit like the Hungarian Tura'n. Except for the gun on the rear of the turret.

True ^^" I love that Hungarian tank btw :,D (I actually had a family member who was a gunner for the Tura`n II ) But still this tank will come out in my story Tank Destroyer Unit: Toge :3 I hope you will enjoy ^-^

Wow! My Dad was trained on the Tura'n, but eventually he ended up in captured French SOMUAs against the partisans. Phew, I'm really happy I wasn't in that war!

Platoon leader. In practice, that meant two or sometimes, seven tanks. Within the tank he was a commander. He sure had some interesting stories.

Oh damn that's intense. Where was he stationed?

He was with the 1st Armoured Division, in Párkány (now Sturovo, Slovakia) and then sent out to Pinsk to the 101st Independent Tank Company. They had captured French tanks (SOMUA and Hotchkiss). They were kind of a "fire brigade", every unit that got into trouble called for their help. They put the tanks on the trains and deployed them like that. He had a ton of medals as a result. I'm still writing a book based on his stories which I taped. It's taking forever, though.

oh god that sounds awesome and god i wish i remembered all the detail of my hungarian great grandfathers tank history :,D I`m not sure which company he was based at but i did hear that he was also a "fire brigade" like member. moving all around fighting the russians as he and his unit withdrew.
In fact to be honest. Im not sure if he was even in a Turan ^^" I dont remember the name he said. but he did say that it was a homemade tank that was effective. and the only candidate is the Turan unless he was on a Zuriyi. but he did distinguish tank destroyers/moble artilary. so I`m guessing that the Turan was the most likely candidate he was on.
Unless he was on a Tas. :,P JK. lol

Yeah, it's too bad that we hear these great stories and then the old folks pass away, and all their memories with them. I got the idea of taping my Dad from a book, and I wish I'd started earlier. Still, I have about eight tapes, and most of the book is done. I won't be able to finish it for a few years because I'm doing an M.A. in Military History, so no way can I write a book with all that to do.
I also confess I'm a bit nervous (scared is a strong word) to publish the book. As it's in Hungarian, it stands to reason that I'd publish it there. But public debate there is kinda vicious and I wouldn't like to be accused of being a fascist, or them accusing my Dad of being one (the Arrow Cross nutcases almost shot him) so I'll see.Maybe I just have to develop a thick skin!!!

yeah. those are a difficult area ^^""" I was watching a documentary called Greatest tank battles and it was about the battle of kursk. and someone was commenting on about them interviewing a Nazi :,D and how thats wrong. and im like dude.....how can you make a documentary, a historical one without interveiwing both sides? especially if you wanna be super authentic.
I think you should just add a small disclaimer at the front. Both sides stories should be told especially the one in Europe. over here in japan.....some can just jump into Fukushima Daiichi ^^"""" lol
but yeah I support ya man :3 and just out of curiousity do you have names of those who fought with your father? maybe....just maybe my great grandfather could be one of them. just curious.

Sadly!
Yeah, those TV documentaries, their quality varies widely.
I reckon I'll write a foreword, explain how I see it...
So you're in Japan? Wow!
Some names that come to mind, Kovács, Jóska Steflik, some others. Some of the other officers: László Csernoch, István Ablonczy and Gábor Szendi. He was out there for about two years, so saw a lot.
Hey, appreciate the good wishes.
Did I mention I'd started an MA in Military History. Yeah. So after that, I suppose I'll be ready for 'em!

my great grandfathers sirname was "Szabo" there is suppost to be a , over the o but i dont know how to get that when using a keybord ^^" and yes. i am in japan and damn i do have a lot of ww2 stories that blew my mind when i was a kid. so many people in my family was fighting in ww2 on bothsides one was a sailer on the Battleship "Maryland" another was a Torpedo pilot on board the Carrier "Zuikaku", a fighter pilot among the Regia flying Saettas and Forgoles.(he even flew a Veltro XDD I saw a picture once! didnt know the importance at the time :,D ) and of course a gunner shooting T34s in a Turan. the lists just go on and man, I sometimes think i know more hidden history during ww2 then even expert historians ^^"""

Same name as mine, but it's very common.
Wow, you did hear lots of amazing stories. I had something a bit similar, but I doubt quite as broad. I was living in South Africa, so I heard a lot from the "Allied" point of view, then from my folks, which was the Axis point of view. At first it was very confusing, but later, I found it interesting. So I'd hear someone talk about their experience of being a bomber air crew, then I'd hear from my Mom who was an air warden in Budapest how much fun it was to get bombed! (In stereo, man!)
Thanks for the encouragement!!

anytime buddy and awwhhhh XD yeah, it is rather common isnt it ^^"" i remember when i looked up what the sir name meant that it means "tailer" if i remember correctly and that its fairly common.
I do remember that he said something about a connection with the Hungarian crown and the reason he fought along side the Germans was only because the kingdom was.
And when the arrow idiots got power, he peaced out so fast, he took his tank and crew with him :,D
