Description Still obsessing over Quirrell. Aaaaand then there's Snape.

There's a story behind that picture, too. Which I am currently in the process of writing.

What am I even doing with my life. -_-

Interesting idea about Quirrell. Felt his death was too fast with all the build up behind him, like there was so much about him and we didn't know anything but few bit here and there. Would love to see the story in canon from before he was darkened and broken (or at least a story with him being saved but then that will be too much change for canon hehe unless it have time travel with different universe) since many says he changed (Quirrell is good actor to fool them) but didn't do anything to help or try to know what going on.

Where I can find this story? Would love to read it! =]

I think Quirrell looks a little like MagaMind in this picture! I like it

Omg what. I never noticed. But you are right, he does. And I'm strangely ok with that. XD

I REALLY am dying to know what the story behind this is now.

Also, I LOVE Quirrell's eyes.

And I, in my endless narcissism, am dying to tell you all about it, so let's not waste any time!

Ok, we all know that flower pressing is Quirrell's hobby, right? And since it's also a known fact that Quirrell is rather intelligent, I decided that he collects these flowers not just because they're pretty (although he totally loves flowers because he thinks that they're pretty, he is Quirrell after all) but also because he has an interest in herbology and the magical properties of plants - their usage in potions especially.

I hope this makes sense so far.

I then got the idea that Quirrell - trying to resist Voldemort's influence and the temptation of power - could use this knowledge to relay secret, encoded messages, trying to warn people of Voldemort, maybe even reach out for help. And who else should he turn to in this endeavor, who else would have the knowledge to understand these messages, if not the equally intelligent Potions Master of Hogwarts?

Essentially this fic is going to be a retelling of the first book from Quirrell's and Snape's pov, with the added element of Quirrell trying to secretly let Snape know about what's really going on, simply by talking with him about flowers... and hoping that Voldy doesn't realize what he's trying to do. Then there's Snape who - while he theoretically does have the knowledge to figure out Quirrell's messages - unfortunately is highly suspicious of the DADA teacher and also, with all due respect, a bit of a butt. HOW WILL THIS ALL END???

... Yeah, kind of like that. I don't know if I explained it well, but that's the general idea. I have maybe 50-75% of the story written at this point, and hopefully it's at least mildly interesting, lol.

Gosh, I'm so sorry for this long-winded explanation...

You MUST finish this. I will die if you don't!

MILDLY interesting?!? I LOVE it!!! Gah, I love how you think, I love your voice when you're writing--even just a comment like this one, I can't WAIT to see you doing fiction--I love how you write with proper punctuation, grammar, and capitalization (so rare!)...if you do one more awesome thing I might just marry you and we can live together in platonic Quirrell-obsessed harmony.

Don't worry about the long-windedness, I love long-windedness in general, and besides, this was so beautiful it wasn't even long. More like, "give me MOAR! NAO!!!"

P.S. I laughed so hard at the bit about Quirrell totally loving flowers because they're pretty, because he's Quirrell after all. It's just so true. And yes, Snape is a bit of a butt.

Awwwww. Aww awww aww awwwwww. Thank youuuu. T3T You know, I actually feel very self-conscious about my writing, since I don't have much experience. (I'm 24 years old and writing my very first fanfic ever. So proud of myself!) Not to mention that English isn't my first language. BUT! I definitely am motivated now, knowing that someone else is interested as well. XD Good thing you like long-windedness, too, since long-winded is exactly what this fic is turning out to be, lol. But it will be finished! Eventually. (It still needs a loooot of work, but... *cough* I may be persuaded to share a WIP. Maaaaaaybe.)

Yes. Yes he is. Snape being a bit of a butt is actually a bit of an understatement, though. XD And it's so harrrrrrd to write him properly. Especially when he's being a butt to Quirrell. I hate him, but I love him.

Your English is impeccable, m'dear. Much better than many native speakers I know. (As someone who speaks only one language--and a bit of French, and 3 words in Russian, and 2 in German--I am rather in awe of it.) I've noticed that's often the case with people who learn a second language...they end up knowing it better than those who grew up speaking it.
(WIP?! *eagerly* Well, I better start on persuading you now, then... Naw, really, I understand if you don't want to. I hate sharing work before it's perfect! And even after I share it, I usually end up tweaking minor details for a few weeks...)

Haha, I was gonna point that understatement out too. And yeah, I bet. I'd just wanna take Quirrell's side. Snape is fun though. I love him, even when he's being more than just a bit of a butt. Especially when, actually. Being an ass is Snape's specialty.

Heh, thanks. Of course, as a German I now need to know your 2 German words. :3c
(Yeah, I usually don't like to share WIPs either. XD Wouldn't mind sharing with you, though? I mean, you actually care about Quirrell, so I'd be curious to know what you think )

I do actually like Snape quite a lot as well. It's just that too many of his fans are all too ready to proclaim him a hero and forgive and forget all his previous assholery. And I do not want to be mistaken for that kind of fan. I'd much rather embrace his asshole status than make silly excuses for it, and I'm glad to hear that you seem to be of that same mindset. XD

"Mutti" and "Oma." (My grandmother on my father's side was German, so I always called her "Oma," and Dad always called her "Mutti." She was an incredible, amazing woman.)

Yes, PLEASE, PLEASE, if you can ever forgive me for poofing for so long, PLEASE let me read what you've got so far! *pleading puppy dog eyes*

What I think a lot of Snape fans fail to notice is that Snape wasΒ ultimatelyΒ selfish in everything he did. He helped Harry out of love for Lily, not out of kindness. He wasn't a superhero; he was a flawed, human man. That makes him all the more admirable, really.

I suppose, part of myΒ obsession with Quirrell stems from that same idea. He made mistakes. But he TRIED. He fought the darkness. Even if he failed, he TRIED against impossible odds to fight back Voldemort, a much stronger wizard. I HATE that people assume he was weak! That must've taken a lot of courage and a lot of magical power, and I bet very few would have put up much resistance at all, much less made MULTIPLE attempts to fight. Mind you, I'm not saying Voldemort's hold over him was inescapable...I think, if he'd been stronger emotionally and spiritually, he could have at least forced Voldemort to kill him. We've seen that people can withstand the horror of torture and the threat of death (Neville's parents, James and Lily, and Harry himself are excellent examples). But how many of the people who call Quirinus "weak" could do as much as he DID do? He was HUMAN, we ARE weak. We ARE imperfect. But we can TRY to do what we can what we have, and fight back the darkness, both of the world around us, and within ourselves.

And ok, I've been trying yesterday to reply with something equally profund, and I've been trying again today, but I'm still failing. That is a very beautiful sentiment, and I agree with everything you said. Now what am I going to do with all these Quirrell feels...

Oh, nice, what was going down in North Carolina? :3 And yeah, I really should! What was your skype again, though? I don't think I actually have you on there. D:
