well, he did look soooooo at ease. nasty little critter - but couldn't resist photographing him. thought as i got 3 ok'ish shots i would put them all togetherRelated content

you've captured some excellent detail (the third one especially stands out)
its just a shame about the washed out colours, and the terrible noise. Try running them through a free noise filter (helicon software make a good one) and increasing the saturation a little in photoshop

Ah, but Larry the thing is you don't chase them cos they sting you. You just get lucky on a wet miserable day and they aren't flying around so much - well this one wasn't. luckily i ran away as soon as i had taken the shots. Thanks for your comments

*shivers* I got stung four times in the foot last year, hadn't seen the little devil in my slipper. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. Twas my first wasp sting even, and luckily I wasn't allergic or anything. Blah! I try to stay as far away from them as I can.
But all that aside, he looks indeed as if he's doing some elaborate circus stunt. Nice shots, specially with all three of them together like that.

thank you. Yeah, i hate wasps too - got stung on the back of the neck a few years ago whilst riding my bike. luckily i too am not allergic - but they make one hell of a mess of you when they sting don't they. I think it is the yellow and black - sure as hell frightens me
