Description
Cone 6The tree's are shellac resist creations-- which means that they are in relief as opposed to being carved into the clay.
I've mixed feelings about the glaze. Some really hot things happening, and some rather NOT things happening. I shall continue in my endeavors.

I really like this. And I didn't know you used etsy. (I probably did/should have, but I'm stupid)
The glazing looks cool to me. It's like trees with brown leaves in the middle of pouring rain. very pretty. I wish I had said cup. You are very lucky with those glazes

what glazes did you use? I love the way they melded.
try woo blue and spodumene sometime -- they have a wonderful way of marbling when they meet
[link]
I'll do a macro close up of the marbling later today.
the effect is really pretty, and can be controlled somewhat through the thickness of the glaze (keep it toward the thin side in coats. it can run off the piece if it's too thick!)

Jacks eggshell on licorish black, I think. Maybe. I'd have to go back and double check. ^_^'
Right now I'm looking for a good red and a good yellow. Right now all I got is a Rasberry. Yick.

awesome! dou yo have a link to the glaze recipes? I want to try them out and maess with them.
I got a HUGE Paragon kiln -- an old beater that still works -- and an entire studio supply of glaze chemicals and clay ingredients -- for $200.
The kiln sits in my garage and around 100 5 gallon buckets sit in a 20 foot row in the shed, stacked 3 and 4 deep to the wall.
I probably have the ingredients to make those glazes right in my shed.

I'm afriad I don't. However, I'm fairly ceratin that Licorish Black is common enough that a good search would turn it up. The full name of the other one is Jack's Eggshell Matt.
And I envy you your shed. I'm in the middle of Rhode Island Suburbs. No sheds for me.

Reminds me of an abstracted representation of a willow. Neat!

Nice glazing!
I can't seem to make any usable containers, but I certainly can do sculptures.

It kind of reminds me of nightfall in those pictures of the savannah. A very interesting piece all around, I think.
I have a clan that needs cups, could we take, like fifty?
:hugs:

They would believe it was whatever you told them it was. You could tell them it was an ancient virility symbol and they'd buy it up like the suckers they are. We'd be rich!!

lol! Well, if we want to go that way, I can think of two ways to draw the trees that would be much more convincing!
