Description
Let's see if I know how to do a Preview....*edit* No, I don't know how to do a preview T__T...so here's the original...
Okay! This is Half of the Tutorial! Steps 1-5 are, to me, the easiest. They are the Drawing and Inking Part of making a Doujin ^_^
There is a lot of information packed in here--so if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask!
One of the BIG things that I just touched upon is Printing. Size and Scale are VERY important if you plan on Printing this out. Also, the Folding Paper to make a booklet is the way your Doujin will read, putting the staples in the very middle (top) Page.
When you print it out, of course you're not going to print them in page order! Page 1 should be printed with the Last Page on the same page! Get it? Page 2 with 2nd to last page, so on and so on. The middle pages will be next to each other and that's where you staple. Also, don't forget to take into account a Nice Cover Page! ^_^
Here you can see my process, my Rough Sketches are REALLY rough, I then make changes or add more detail when penciling in the second time on my official paper, then add finishing touches when I Ink.
Hope this helps to anyone wanting to make a Doujin ^_^

when you blow it up doesn't it become bigger becasue you folded a paper in half and then drew on each half two different pages so won't the thing not be as big as your final sheet? sorry if i don't make sense.

frostyshark In reply to cold-ice-trio [2010-09-30 18:03:22 +0000 UTC]
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking but I'll explain: When you draw the sketches on the folded sheet each page is about 5.5" x 8.5" When you make copies, you press the enlarge button so that the page will now fill an 8.5" x 11" page (I think it's 129%) OR an 11" x 17" page (that's 200%)
The reason you want to blow it up to ink is that the final product will look better if drawn bigger and then shrink it back down for viewing.
To be honest the whole re-sizing thing has a whole slew of crazy math involved if you have any more questions let me know.

say whats the purpose of the light table i mite work on a hellsing ceras victoria doujin and just wondering oh and also if i jsut use a program like manga studio sould i do ok

frostyshark In reply to DrillBreaker08 [2010-09-12 07:07:17 +0000 UTC]
I'm new with Manga Studio, I haven't yet graduated from this "homemade" technique to the professional level on Manga Studio. But I think, from what I learned so far from Manga Studio, is that you make everything in that program -- the sketches, panels, balloons, inking, tones...everything. So I guess you won't need a light box then

Oh, well, if you work on a larger scale you can draw more details. That is if you also want it to fit in a tiny booklet. if it's just for internets you can draw it whatever size you see fit. If you have any more questions let me know.

Do you still have prints on it?

The Doujin was a Naruto one [link]

Aww, no prints?
Even tho' I am not into Naruto, I will take *any* doujinshi (that is non-hentai, non-heavy yaoi, I can handle it if it's *really* light XD).
I shall support you!

Yeah, I don't think I can sell a Fan Doujin due to copyrights it would have to be original...

I think the rules of thumb are:
-no making profits
-no more than 100 hard copies sold
-only sold at conventions
I have actually seen a couple English Doujin Circles that sell their Doujin (ZAP-Zelda Anthology Project, Fresh Baked, to name a few ). I don't know how or why, but they seem to be doing okay...I wonder why that is....
