Description Yeah, I'm making fun of the fandom. But, really, it was just asking for it. And I do like to mock things I enjoy.

So, baaasically, these are some of the most common elements that pop up in the S/R fanfics. They show up constantly in different combinations (and with varying amounts of success... but I will not go there). I suppose it might have been interesting to pick out the more "WTF!?!" ones out there... but that would require finding them and exposing my already abused brain to them. The summaries can be painful enough as it is, thank you very much.

On an artsy note, sorry about the half-ass coloring. My attention span died about three quarters of the way through.

I know. After seeing this pic I looked over the stories on the Sessrin fanfiction site [link] and saw alot of them have the same idea. I have been trying to avoid this now.
Like you said I have seen a few stories that were not like the others, like in one of my favorites were Sesshomaru ends up dieing in the end, or Rin has a child, but it isn't Sesshy's.
You write SessRin fics? Can you send me link?

Haha, it is rather funny... it's just hard to get outside of the box in that fandom. Not that such is necessarily a bad thing... some of the common story lines can still be done in fresh ways and are enjoyable even after having been encountered numerous times. XD

Here's a link to my ff.net account: [link] The SessRin fics are the ones at the bottom. I hope that if you get around to reading any of them that you will enjoy them!

And as a SessRin fan myself, it really is hilarious on how true this is. Especially with the comical twist you threw in...burritos, hah! This had me smiling at his fluffy stroke

Thank you very much. XD I'm happy that other people in the fandom can appreciate that there is a shred of truth in this... as much as I love it, there are just certain patterns that inevitably get repeated over and over again. Totally understandable, but potentially hilarious nonetheless. I'm really glad that you enjoyed the random burrito and the fluffy stroking; that kind of was my favorite to make. XD

I found you through fanfiction - I enjoyed your Kimono fic very much.

I must say, as an outsider (who has never read Inuyasha but enjoys SessxRin fics) this is SO true! I was at first puzzled why Rin was left in the first place, if they're so god damn miserable alone... hehe

Thank you so much for the comment! I'm glad that the picture made you laugh... it helps reaffirm that I was able to catch some of the tropes within the Sess/Rin fandom. XD There are just some things that it's impossible to avoid having in those stories, even if their importance to the plot varies.

Also, thanks for mentioning that you found this page through my fanfiction -- I'm very happy that you enjoy my writing, too! ^^

Sess/Rin pairing = ickness to the nth factor. ::shudders::

I honestly don't care how old Rin gets - she can be a granny, and I would still think of her and Sesshoumaru as father/daughter only. The mere idea of Sesshoumaru taking Rin as a lover and any age just makes my stomach turn.

And the reasons people support the pairing just leaves me scratching my head - I've seen anything from 'he's following in his father's/brother's footsteps' to 'it happened in Memoirs of a Geisha' to just 'they look so cute together!'. XP

I still say Sesshoumaru is looking for Rin to later pair up with Kohaku - his other human ward. All signs seem to point to this in the manga.

mittens,

i think the pairing makes me want to barf as well. but as much as i agree with thee, this isn't exactly your little bitching circle time. this is a place to comment on artwork and artist only. that's great that you think it's stomach turning because i thought i was the only normal person in da house! but there is a time and a place for it (fanfiction.net maybe?) but not...you know, here.

kthanxbai!

Haha weeeeell, I'm afraid I must admit that I happen to be a S/R shipper myself. It wasn't really anything that I totally latched onto when I first stumbled across it -- in fact, it really weirded me out to begin with. I suppose it was more like it latched onto me despite my best efforts.

My reasons are definitely nothing like those you have listed... those would be very poor reasons indeed, and I hate it myself when it seems like stories revolve around that sort of logic. It's incredibly hard to find a good S/R fic because of how people use the pairing.

Anyway, I personally felt that the ending of the manga left everything very open. I appreciated that, as it seemed like it could be reasonable to still hope for either pairing, depending on one's preferences.

Mwahahahahahahah! It is sooooooo true! Not a fan of the Rin/Sessie pairing though. No matter how old she grows to be... I think it's icky. He's like... her dad! >_< I'm disturbed and like the Kagome/Sesshoumaru pairing. Sad... but... hey. Sometimes Inuyasha deserves it.

Frotu In reply to RavanaNight [2008-02-04 23:57:10 +0000 UTC]

I used to be a purely plutonic fan, but then somewhere down the line I got sucked into shipping them... at least once she's older. <_< I really don't know how it happened! Still, there's a good way to go about it, and then there are ways that I think are icky, too... which, sadly, I've seen too much of (and thus this picture!)

I don't really mind K/S, but I don't really understand it, either. It just puzzles me a bit. ^^

-gins- Yeah, I used to be abhorred to K/S... but it grew on me. Like mold. >>; I actually had a very in depth discussion about how much a K/S pairing could happen, that's how far my friends and I have fallen. I don't remember the awesome point I made though. Prolly because it was three in the morning when we had this discussion. Though most of the K/S fics involve the burrito pane. (That was awesome beyond words, by the way.) I even read a fic called "I Must Be Sick". Heh.

I've read a couple R/S out of curiosity, but I never could get past the fact that he practically raised her.

Hahaha, like mold indeed. That's how shipping tends to work, doesn't it? XD

Well, if you remember your awesome points, you'll have to relate them to me. I've always wanted to be able to understand the appeal, since it is soooo popular, but I've just failed miserably at grasping it. And it is true that points (and many other things, actually) seem awesome at three in the morning.

I think almost all romantic fics with Sesshy have a measure of the burrito picture, at least if they're good... I can't imagine him just instantly accepting feelings of love right off the bat.

I am actually guilty of having written a couple R/S fics... *hangs head* The first one was full of "ZOMG AWKWARD! ... why am I doing this?" because I gave myself brain spasms writing it. Over time, I've come to the conclusion that he's taken care of her, but not really raised her -- she's a pretty independent little kid who mostly manages things by herself, and he doesn't really do those things that generally fall to the responsibility of a parental figure, like imparting lessons, providing comfort, etc. There definitely are things I have to include for me to be okay with the situation, because it is really easy to make it weeeird.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RavanaNight In reply to Frotu [2008-02-06 06:04:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, mold is the only way to describe it, because I'm not a fan of any of the other ships. The only fic I ever wrote included a made up character for him. I might be able to read S/K but I can't bring myself to write it. Dunno why... but I think I'd give myself a seisure with all the brain spasms that would occur if I ever tried to write a R/S fic. >_>

Yeah, I beat myself up with excessive facepalming trying to remember what was said. I think it only made it worse. I'll have to call Kim up and see if she remembers, but... she's not the most reliable in the lines of memory. Three in the morning is one of those magic times were everything is awesome and everything is funny. I should avoid it while with company, but some of my best chapters come from its inspiration. Minus the excessive typos of course.

Frotu In reply to RavanaNight [2008-02-08 07:00:15 +0000 UTC]

Haha, well, the funny thing is that even if you don't think you can write it, if you try, you probably could. I started being like "uuugh, I can't read this stuff!" and then I did... and then I was like "nooo, I can't write this! *mortified*" but then I did. *laughs* Soooo... just depends on if you have one of those annoying little voices in the back of your mind that just wench slaps all the other voices sometimes.

I quite like talking to people at three in the morning, as they are often in the same mental boat as myself, and the ridiculousness is just awesomely amusing. However, it does depend on what happened during the day; by all rights, although it is only midnight, I don't think I'm even safe to be replying to comments right now. XD ... Of course I do it anyway, but that is besides the point.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RavanaNight In reply to Frotu [2008-02-09 00:45:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm sure if I set my mind to it, I could very well write it. It would take a while, because the multitude of voices that would be mortified would fight back. None of the voices in my head take too well to being wench-slapped. But, I'm an author through-and-trough. If I set out to write something, it'll get written. I just don't have time to start ANOTHER fanfic. -facepalm- I alreay have a very long one on hold, along with two originals as I work on my current original. Pile homework and work-work on top of that and you have my life. My friends are so neglected. >_>

Yeah, I wish I could have gotten some of the convos between me and Erica at around that time. I'm sure it would be enough to win some money... or a one way ticket to a padded room.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Frotu In reply to RavanaNight [2008-02-13 03:52:57 +0000 UTC]

Those voices are the difficult part... but once you beat them into submission, it's pretty easy to ignore them in the future. Like... you get immunity or something. XD

I understand about not having time, though... I hardly feel like I have time to do simple things now (like replying to comments in a timely manner!). Now I'm trying to get a fanfic for a contest done by the 8th of next month, and there is much GAAAHUIERSHUIGSFNDKSD and whatnot, and it's very painful.

So yes, I am very simpathetic of your plight in the story field. *nod*

You know, a padded room doesn't sound as bad as many rooms you could end up in, does it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RavanaNight In reply to Frotu [2008-02-15 05:30:43 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but the problem is, I tend to like their company. -snicker- Heck, I get some of my best ideas through arguing with myself.

Yeah, generally the time I find myself on the computer are the times I'm sending shifty sidelong glances toward my homework, wishing that it'd do itself. You'd think I'd have a little more drive for this stuff now that I'm actually paying for the classes. -facepalm- Fanfic contest, eh? Hope you win! -thumbs up- Never entered a fanfic contest. Always knew my limits, and finishing something on time was never a strong point when it came to my writings. I revise the buggers a couple million times before I submit them... thus why I never aspired to be a journalist. Or, if I ever start a series, I'll write the entire series before I publish it. That way, my apartment wont be burt to the ground or I won't be mobbed by fans tired of waiting for the next book.

Padded room is the preferred choice, yes. Problem is, I'd keep running myself into them just to bounce off... for fun and all... and they'd likely end up sedating me.

Happy Valentines Day! ...Though I never understood the reasoning behind making it a holiday...

Frotu In reply to RavanaNight [2008-02-19 10:14:08 +0000 UTC]

Yes, the voices can serve a very vital role, it is true. I guess in my case I just have to mind which ones I pay attention to.

Pffft, like actually paying for school makes homework any more fun. *laughs* If anything, I think it manages to make it even more distasteful... kind of a "I'm paying for this class, so I should be able to return those items that aren't satisfactory."

Well, I've never entered a fanfic contest before, either. I guess other people have entered my stories in contests before, but I've never actually done so myself. Sadly, I'm running out of time and I have not been able to really work on it like I should... *sigh*. It sounds like we have some similarities in our writing habits -- I tend to take at least a month to revise before I post anything, and I make sure to finish before I start posting. Becaaaause one time I did not and it was an ugly ugly experience. XD Anyway, thank you for the well wishes! I do appreciate that!

Haha, it's just too bad that the instructors don't really agree... they seem to think that it makes giving grades hard. Who knew?

I used to absolutely hate people looking at my writing... I mean, that stuff is like a part of your SOUL. Buuuut... if there are issues, if I want people to read the story, then they are going to talk about the problems. And I would much rather have somebody who knows me and will be sensitive about how they handle that telling me instead of somebody who might just rip me apart and whatnot. I think I've had enough practice by now that I feel... pretty okay. But it's still difficult.

I've only got one semi-negative comment, so I'm feeling pretty good about that. I definitely know what you mean about it being part of your soul though.
