Description Well...I took this pic yesterday when I got up after our "big" snowstorm. I say big cuz it's the biggest we've had so far this season, even tho we only got about 4 or 5 inches of snow. But I looked out my bedroom window and I saw this and had to take a pic of it...and while I was taking the pic the wind blew and the snow fell, which is why it looks like it does. I couldn't decide whether to put up this pic or the other one where the snow isn't falling, so both are being put up. This is just the first one.

awesome pic. 6 inches, eh? We got a few inches but it quickly turned to rain. We did get a delayed opening out of it though... which sucked, since I wanted some midterm review today, so I wanted a full day of school. Yea, I'm weird.

Our 6 inches did nothing cuz it was the exam break...it was Thursday or Friday morning...so no missed school. *sigh*

ugh that really sucks. I hate when it snows and it does nothing. But at least you won't have an extra day taken off of your summer.

We've still got 2 more possible snow days...

ooo that's good. We have all of our snow days taken off the end of summer, so it's sort of a no-win situation. But we'll have more snow days, and more days of the end of summer. Oh well lol.

Yeah...we get 3 free snow days/ice days/whatever days and after that they start adding days to the end. They rarely do tho cuz of commencement tho...and since it's got a set date, and a set date for exams...

That's the way it used to be in Trumbull. Well, at least 30+ years ago when my mother was going to school here. Never was that way for me though. I wish it were, we have 5 extra days over the state minimum for public schools anyways, so it's not like we'd be missing anything. Commencement often changes for us, they usually try to set a date in the beginning of the year and then always delay it. Although they already have my Graduation Date on my transscript, which is 6/24/07, which is odd lol. Final Exams sometimes change though, and sometimes the high school will get a few days off at the end where the middle schools and elementary schools are still going. Hopefully that will happen this year again lol.

Yeah, hopefully. And I think my graduation date will be early june next year...not late. I dunno tho. They're making some law in Michigan or something where schools starts after labor day and ends before memorial day, so...yeah. Dunno if that's working out or not, but it's what I've heard.

Our graduation is always in late June. Mine definitely won't be early June sadly. That would be awesome if they passed that law. I'd love for that to happen in Connecticut too, but it seems the exact opposite might happen - the governor is talking abour raising the minimum amount of minutes in classtime, which would also expand the amount of days. Luckily that definitely won't be passed before I'm a senior, so it won't affect me. But Trumbull has been increasing the amount of minutes we go to school, so we're definitely not losing time either. It sucks.

Yeah...one of the years late in elementary school they added 15 extra minutes to each day or something, and I didn't find out till a couple years ago that they did that and didn't actually need to...they had us for at least an extra week's worth of time. But this year's graduation was originally 6-6, but they changed it because the idiots are so freakin superstitious. Now it's the 7th, I think. I dunno, I'll have to check eventually...I'm stuck playing commencement this year, after all...again...

They added 20 minutes for us two years ago, and another 5 last year, both of which were unnecessary and decided by an arbitrator during the most recent talks with the teacher's union. I hate when they add unnecessary time like that, especially when they don't give any sort of explination. They probably have us for a week's extra worth of time too. I can't believe they changed the graduation due to superstition. That is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard (and I'd laugh if they made some excuse for it like "to honor D-Day" or some crap like that lol). ugh that really sucks, I haven't been to one high school commencement yet, and won't be going to it this year (I doubt). I was stuck going to all three commencements while in middle school since my mom volunteered at two of them, and then of course I graduated at the third, but those aren't half as long as the high school ones. But I'd hate to have to play at a commencement, I feel bad for you.

We get to sit the whole time they get their names called tho, and that's cool. And in middle school, we had a huge assembly so we could get all the stuff at the end of the year. And 7th graders made a tunnel to run the 8th graders out as a goodbye thing. I missed that when I was in 8th grade tho cuz I was still sick and my mom had officially taken me out of school by then. *sigh* And I wanted to do that too...

Yea, but still, having to go through the whole thing probably sucks, especially since you're standing a lot of the time. In middle school we always had a ceremony at night in the gym, which was like a graduation only not as big or as long. That tunnel thing sounds nice, we didn't have anything like that (the 7th graders never came anyways, nor did anyone want them to come). That really sucks that you missed it, especially for that reason. Would've been nice to do that, too bad you couldn't.

...we never stand. It's orchestra. We don't march, so we don't have to stand. Only the basses stand...but all of our middle school things were during the day, like in elementary. Only high school things are at night...

ooo well it still sucks you have to go. Even if you don't stand, just having to be there and play sucks. Most of our middle school things were at night, but our elementary school things were in the day. High school is always at night though.

Yeah, high school's at night. But last year I had to ride my bike to school so I could even get to the thing. My mom promised she'd be back by 6:30 so I could be there on time, and at 7 she still wasn't there and I was supposed to be there ten minutes later. So I got there about 10 minutes late Because the stupid bike lock didn't want to cooperate. She remembered to pick me up, but she didn't remember that I had to go. So she got there before it got over with and put my bike in the truck and I was able to just go out with my violin and leave. She apologized a lot for a while after that, but she prolly doesn't even remember it now.

ugh, that really sucks. Really sucks that it caused you to be late. Bike locks are always a pain, they never cooperate when you need them to most. Yea, but at least she did apologize a lot.
