Description
Mappy, of the Micro Police. One of Namco's early arcade games came surprisingly high in the Namco Top 10 character poll. I made a few tweaks to his design here, giving him a smart tie and all that.Related content

I'm not really expecting him but I would like if he made into Super Smash Bros. 4

I love this game. Not as well known as Pac-man, but still awesome.

yeah, I actually thought while America has Tom and Jerry for iconic Cat and mouse series, Japan has Mappy(and Nyamco) by their side for their's.

It's a fun little game. It reminds me of Sega's Flicky. I'm not sure which came first (Mappy, I assume).

Indeed not! One of the long-lost Namco classics.

Nice, I like how you redesigned him, and his outfit a bit. Almost looks like how he'd look in a modern-day Mappy game, or something.
Funny thing is, the first Mappy game I played as a kid wasn't "Mappy," (as you said the NES home version wasn't released outside of Japan oddly) but was the semi-sequal "MappyLand" instead.
I don't get why that game gets so much hate on-line. I liked it's level settings, music, hidden rooms, and such. Sure it was a bit hard at times, but so was the original arcade "Mappy" in my opinion.

I was almost tempted to go all-out and give him a modern-day police vest with walkie-talkie. Maybe later

His first game didn't reach the NES, but came out on the Famicom. It's always weird when that happens. It was the same with Dig Dug!

I gotta yet get to try this game. (-lwl-)^ I dunno why Mappy hasn't been given much playable quest appearances in Namco's games, seems like an interesting character to be fleshed upon.
Nice details there BTW! I can sorta imagine him guarding the Chu Chu's (From Chu Chu Rocket)

For a character who has had very few international releases, and even fewer modern appearances, I have no idea why he came so high on the list! I'm glad he did though

WOW! I remember this character! I still have the old video game, Mappy Land, for the NES!
