Seriously it's all the same shit. Once paired up, you end up with 2 token characters and a generic relationship. This is why I hate pairings with childrens characters. This is why writers never delve deep into these relationships either as most of the time they become bland and token like.Builders by Kphoria

Most media avoid these til the very end of a show or don't go into it too much. Otherwise character is sacrificed for generic romance. People want to see two get together...but they don't want to actually see the what they do together. That stuff is always generic. Sometimes it works out, but a lot of the time it's best to not even bother with an aftermath. People don't like namesakes and simple romance. That's ordinary. Newest show I'm watchin literally has his fiancee stolen from him, and not once does he over complain about her every episode or so, give her a dumb nickname, or show anything overly romantic. Because that's boring and cheesy.Β

Well like I said before. Romance at a young age is also extremely out of place. Something so un-assuring as love is not something an 8 year old can grasp, even if he is a genius. Especially something someone was never really interested in ever in his character, so to have one all the sudden is completely out of character. Same with what happened with Sonic and Elise.Β

And that is thought process of every shipper ever. Make things more interesting for you, over how a character would normally behave and act. None of these characters ever showed the hint of even wanting any thing such as a romance. Except for Amy, who is played for laughs. They are kids. They just want to have fun, not have some love drama bullshit. They represent freedom and adventure, not settling down and being tied back by romance. That is not what the series is about. It's about being cool and going on awesome adventures, saving the world, friendship, etc.
And this is why trivial romance has no place in Sonic. Yuji Naka himself can't imagine it, and he's the creator of Sonic. It's like trying to pair up the teletubies or Barney, they are meant for innocence and youthful playfulness. Romance is the essence of settling down with another...that goes against what the franchise is about.

It's just as bad as Barbie and Bratz are for young girls, showing them this is how you should look like. Romance with really young characters shows young kids "Oh hey look at how these characters get together in romance, you should too." Kids are extremely impressionable. If romance such as this was the norm, we'd have kids worrying about getting in relationships way to early. Kids look up to these characters, so seeing them care so much about finding love will make them want to as well. Supported further by their parents being a couple. This is not something any kid should think of. They should not have to think about this for a long time. They should be thinking about enjoying their childhoods and having fun. That's essentially what Sonc brings to them. The wild adventures they can't have. The cool factor of going fast and exploring worlds. It's about fun. That is why this type of series is not meant for things such as love. Does that mean something can't blossom when they're older, no. But at a young age as they are, it's just wrong on so many levels.Β

Yes...and then we got Sonic 06. Further showing that turning a character who isn't into romance, into a romantic, is a bad thing. They even thought of doing it with Madana in Sonic 1, but she was scrapped.
There is no place for it here. Not unless you're ok with turning everyone into Bob the Hedgehog, Hugh The Fox, Bonnie the Echinda, etc. Lifeless shells of their original intent and purpose. I can not imagine couples with kids who'd be in 3rd grade at their age.

It was out of character and out of place. Not to mention how she gained Mary Sue powers from out of nowhere to do what Super Sonic and Super Shadow couldn't. That is bullshit. Especially since the enemy used chaos emerald power...yet the unpowered girl magically can go right through what not even 2 super forms could accomplish?

That moment was a mary sue moment. Gained self power that to overcome something that not even the most powerful objects in the universe could accomplish.
My friend ships pretty much everyone with everything, so I ain't a stranger to shippers. But if you're all ok with not caring about character and rather manipulate feelings like puppet masters just cause you feel they need love, be my guest. I will just never call them by their names. They'll only be costumes worn by other token people rather than the true characters I know. Just a bunch of fakers pretending they are who they say they are.

Which really shouldn't be a thing honestly. Really it should be moving on after her death. That's more of a thing that's grown up, and that some kids have to learn. If anything a much better story would be being unable to bring her back, but accepting that things happen and that he has to move on. The whole adventure would be letting go and growing up. That to me is far more profound then having someone come back for the sake of a pairing.

If anything there shouldn't be a relationship...being friends sure...close friends who understand each other sure. But a romance...between essentially 3rd grade kids...it's weird. Worst off all is when it replaces the true kinship of the series and replaces the close relations of friends since the beginning.Β
