What 8 year old kid has girlfriends? I hope schools now a days don't have people mix and matching 3rd graders now. I do know of Cosmo and Fiona. Hell I even know of Mina. I've gone through my Cosmo thoughts before so no need for me to beat those in like a dead horse. Though other than stupid Sonic X shit, I kinda forgot why I don't like her besides bad pairing crap. Maybe one of my newer friends made me forget the official reasons why I did...still hate the mere thought or underage relationships and plant foxes
Fiona I've read a bit on the wiki, and even though Tails is 11 in the comics, even Fiona thinks he's their age is too wide and it's weird. Hell she never even loved him anyways and only loved Scourge....still weird since she's a fox...and he's a hedgehog.
Mina he married in that 25 years later storyline...though that was complete ass as if I recall it's the same story where Sonic of all people becomes a king....Sonic....the guy who hates sitting around and responsibility. Also some Echinda girl beats Shadow in Chaos powers....da hell? No verdict on Mina herself as I didn't read up on her...other than Mongoose on fox kids...gross.
Marine is hyper active and annoying. Not much else needs to be said. Hell she's so annoying and bad that when Blaze insults her by calling her a nuisance, neither Sonic nor Tails even attempt to defend her at all.
Cream is the ultimate bore. The perfect example of cute that I don't like. Cute without personality is boring. Other than that they barely have exchanged dialogue.

Well... I'm speechless... Not a thing to say against this. Especially liked: "Two of those people are from alternate universes with the other versions of me, since I've never heard of them..." The best way to say "I don't care about them" (even if he's technically right).

Well they never were. The whole thing with Cosmo was never set in stone as they never treated each other as such, and Fiona never liked him to begin with. Though really I don't know why people want an 8 year old falling in love...kids are in second or third grade at that point...would they think second and third graders should get girlfriends/boyfriends?
Furthermore why the hell do people need to be in relationships? Why is that important? It's that kind of thinking that causes depression and suicides to those who don't feel loved cause they don't have girlfriends/boyfriends. It's a stupid concept that every single person needs to fall in love with someone.

Well, if Tails wasn't officially paired with them at certain points, no one would probably want him to fall in love with anyone. They wouldn't get such ideas. Well, not that much. But actually a good point. You have got it here.
But about his age... Does it really matter here? I mean, being smart enough to build planes, airboards, submarines and spaceships from scratch all on their own is notΒ somethingΒ second and third graders can normally do either. Should you even pay attention to age when it comes to Sonic characters?

Well he wasn't paired per say. One was hinted at but never happened, and the other was one sided as the real Fiona was different from the fake one. He's not officially paired. Closest to official I guess is Sonic X...but that's a thankfully dead continuity now with only El Grand Gordo being the only cool thing from that continuity...and some would argue Dark Sonic
Just because he's smart doesn't mean his age doesn't matter. You can look up kid geniuses in real life at the age of 5. There's loads of child prodigies who are really young who do incredible things. Just because you're smarter than everyone doesn't mean age doesn't matter when it comes to more adult and mature things. Should he be able to drink and do adult stuff since he's smarter than most? His hobby is practically building blocks on an extreme level. He does what all kids dream of when they use toys like legos and stuff. Not only that but he doesn't show the need or want for any of this. His happiness comes from helping others and hanging out with Sonic.
To further answer the age question it's both. You don't let normal age bother you as this is a fantasy world with super powered animals. On the other hand they still act there age even while doing the stuff they do.Β

Keyword though on the topic is "Happiness." That is all that matters. He doesn't seek out or want a relationship because he's happy with himself and his life. It's not that he isn't allowed to get into a romance at some point, but currently it doesn't matter to him. He is happy with himself right now.
Like the old saying of money doesn't buy you happiness, romance doesn't either. It can, or it can tear up your soul. If romance brought long lasting happiness, we wouldn't have divorces. Sometimes I think pairings are only done cause the individual themselves don't have a relationship. Though I'm a stickler to canon whether the choices made are good or bad.
To me the series has always been about adventure and freedom. It's not about saving princesses, damsels, or getting the girlfriend. It's about being cool and speeding through on a great thrill ride.Β
