we are learn from mistakes. there's a quite big discuss under the original artwork (here > greenhouse girl ) about lack of Mature Filter. I'm higly concerned about poor kids that migh be violated by the view of female body with only nipples covered and no sign of vagina (or shoud I say 'bajingo' or 'va-jay-jay'?). someone even reported it, but uh, those lazy admins didn't found it filthy enough to force me to put Mature Filter on it. shame on you admins!
so I learned my lesson and I made 3 censor types that I'll be using from now so everyone will be pleased. can't decide which one I like the most, if you could vote for your favourite one then it will be helpful let's make deviantart a better place!

now for real. some of you noticed that I started to make these funny heart censors for private parts (GENITALIAS!!! :U ) at my drawings. or sometimes I don't. why? why can't I just put mature filter at every picture that contains a nipple? because I don't find it wrong. that's why. I believe that female nipples are as appropriate as male nipples. I believe that human body is beautiful and natural and we shoudn't be shocked by view of breast or butt, we shouldn't tread it as something wrong. It's what we are. So if the character at my picture is not shown in sexual pose then I'm just placing heart stickers on private parts. Seems legit for me. But if the picture has a nudity and sexual themes then I'm putting mature filter on. Deviantart is allowed for userd 13 y/o and above so we are not talking about toddlers exposed for the view of nude people. well, even not real people only drawn ones! 13 y/o kids seen worse things, even here at dA, than naked girl with covered nipples and no vagina. it's not vulgar. it's just the body.also if dA staff members rejected the report then it means that I didn't violated service policy. To leave no doubt - I do respect service policy which says that if I want to post drawings that contain nude characters then genitalias have to be covered. here's your appropriate banana
summarizing:
nudity + no sexual theme = heart sticker on genitalias
nudity + sexual theme = Mature Filter on
my english is not fluent enough to start a discussion about using nudity in our society and positive/negative aspects of that. feel free to discuss, but I'll not join you, I made my statement about using censor in my art above. And be like Bill

I honestly think this is a US thing. Some Mature content policies from there can seem very prudent to Europeans. In US media, people can even magically have sex without getting rid of their underwear at all! Its a miracle.
Plus I never really understood why male nipples are not a thing if female nipples are... I mean its almost literally the same thing. ALSO even toddlers get to see dem nipples, when they are breastfed by their mothers, so whats the big deal lmao
I'd honestly love to see the uncensored version of your artwork, without heart stickers. Not because i am a horny pervert (I would have to look up different things there LOL) but because I want to appreciate a piece of art without feeling like the artist needed to alter it because someone else felt its right to tell them what to do.

what I don't understand is they will let photographers take pictures of naked bodies all day and some times in sexual poses and they don't get removed or talked to but you do? something weird there in my opinion

we need to censore things like that cuz out there are stupid, sick people who jerk off from almost anything.... Even fom an artistic picture that has no intention in beeing for sexual stuff... We ned to change things cuz other people do not see things as we do.
A drawing i make of a male or female body arouses me just like a teapot does :/ but others can think this is outrageus.... So we need to pay a price because we, as individual people, see things differently... this is how unique thoughts and diferences between humans are punished... the same thing with school systems... I am not allowed to paint my nails black, wear shorts in the summer, or even show my shoulders cuz this can find other sick in the head people sexual and innapropriate... I need to pay a price, of freedom expression, because of other people.. This is the beauty of our society, you know XDD yay society!!!!

I don't think the mature filter is really a censor. After all you can remove it by clicking on a button. It just allows people to have a bit more control over what they'd like to see and what they don't want to see. If you'd mature filter this stuff, you could draw all the nippels you wanted and people who would like to see them could see them. You wouldn't have to put the hearts on pictures.

Deviantart just needs to stop blanketing all works under the same mature content banner. There is a difference between light nudity and pornography. In the bigger picture, I agree that there is a double standard when it comes to censorship. Men can be topless all they want and a woman can't, even if there's a purpose like feeding her child. I believe there should be laws for child safety but a lot of the standards in place aren't helping anyone. I believe it's in the benefit of everyone to be more comfortable and educated about their own bodies as well as the arts.
In the meantime, I would either censor or label your art as mature just in the off case that someone is at work / school.

censoring your artwork shouldn't be necessary, but it IS important if someone is browsing deviantart in a workplace or other location where it could get them in trouble, like at home if they have strict parents. i mean, i don't know why they'd be browsing deviantart at work, but still.
