after i started with ubuntu i moved to kde and then to crunchbang - i think i would have to find something very special for me to move away from crunchbang, openbox and tiling

yep, nothing wrong with that. It's just that I my screen is not very big (1280x800), so I'd rather have thin borders (or no borders at all) to enhance my working area.
