Description
Details & comparison here: -> [link] <-Mixed media since this is a photo of a wood engraving heavily photomanipulated, airbrushed & textured.
Scene from John Milton's Paradise Lost.
Original is an engraving from 1870, by Gustave Doré, more info of him & his works here: [link]
I´ve always been a huge fan of engraving works by Doré and others, and have worked with a few pieces like this before on some cd-cover work. Unfortunately I don´t have permission to upload the earlier ones to DA, but this one isn´t used on anything yet so I can show it. Big thanks for checking out.
Stock-photo of the engraving is bought from iStockphoto.com, and you can see small parts of it in the detail-image linked above if you´re curious on seeing what part came from Doré and what´s my own touch. Textures used are my own.

You trully have made justice to Gustave Doré's work on the Bible (the Popular Bible, that is, since these engravings are first found here). I always remember his vision of the fallen Satan - such a beautiful angel, looking above in despair. Your own work is, as always, superb.

Not all of them I´m sure, since there´s way too many. But possibly some, there´s a few of his scenes I´ve adored since forever, and would be nice to try them out at some point.

Which ones you are not allowed to upload? The CD cover images? Why?

One cover piece and a couple of others that were used on the inside of the booklet, as background images on pages where the lyrics were.
Many bands demand exclusive usage & display rights when they commission an artist, so he/she can´t display the pieces in their personal galleries, they want the art to appear only in places they choose themselves, like in the booklets & possible site & shirt graphics. Not a problem for me though, as long as the band pays the agreed price for my work.

Ok, it just sounds strange that an artist could lose rights to use his/her art in, say, a portfolio.
Well, probably it is a good idea to respect the will of the customer (if it doesn't happen all the time) even if the request wouldn't be completely legally binding. (Is it legally binding?)

Depenging on the contract and how detailed it is. But in cases where the band wants the exclusive rights, it´s usually pretty airtight.
