Description This is my first attempt at making a pin book. The pages are made of a thick fabric so you can keep pins in it. I've never worked with fabric before, so if anyone has any tips on keeping the edges from fraying, let me know

It is 2 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall.

I always burn the edges to keep them from fraying... I'm not sure if it works with every fabric.
So first try it on a leftover piece of fabric...

What a BRILLIANT idea!!!!! I'm always losing my needles! This would be a great thing for someone like moi, who has to go over her carpet after a stitching session with a little magnet :s

This is a really neat idea. I keep losing my pins, I should try to make one of those.

It was relatively easy, the edges kept fraying on my though. I have to figure out how to prevent that.

Ah, but as far as I can see a lot of people recommended fray-check, which is pretty good.
A cheap alternative is transparent nail polish - don't know if anyone has suggested that already.

Hmm nope, and I actually have some of that!
I may try to make some more of these now.

they have stuff at craft stores that can seal a frindge, ive used it before you could also use an iron on application that would seal it

I think I'll buy a bottle of this Fray Check stuff people keep mentioning. I want to go to the art store to buy some more wire for my sculptures anyway.

That is amazing!~ I didn't know you could cover things in fabric, too *shows how much I know about anything outside of sewing*

To stop the edges from fraying, you can get a product called "fray check", or any sort of white glue usually works, too.

Or, you can use fabric that doesn't fray (i.e. felt) for the pages, which would also work. Or, you can get a special type of scissors called "pinking shears" which cuts them in little triangles along the edges, which also keeps them from fraying for the most part!

To awesome!~ I'm going to have to note you about them, if you'd be willing to make some on commission

^_^ It was fun to make. I'm definitely interested in making them for you, just let me know the details and we'll talk price and all that jazz.

Alrightie!! I'll figure out how many I'd need, and I definitely wouldn't need them for quite a while (4 months or so?), so I hope that makes it a little easier (for once, not waiting until the last minute XP)

Fray Check.
You can get it at JoAnn's.
Heck. You can get it at Walmart
but don't get run over
trying to cross eight lanes of traffic
just for a tiny bottle of Fray Check!
(fabric department)

Think they have it at Michaels?
I was going to make a trip out there today.
(I need more wire for a new sculpture project)
