Well, my reference pic was of a French soldier so I decided to stick with that. I was basically experimenting with a fast lineart-color style so I felt it wasn't really necessary to try and change the nationality, heh. (Because that would have meant drawing a different kind of rifle)
As far as anime/video game character fanart, I generally only draw characters that I know or like. I actually haven't played any of the Metal Gear Solid games, though if I take a liking to Snake in Smash Brothers I'll draw him.

Sure thing. I particularly liked your 'Samurai fights' though it's a pity that they're somewhat small. I think you should try inking your drawings as well, they could really benefit from increased contrast!

Thanks, I toyed around with it for a while, originally there were going to be more trees blocking a mountain, then I figured it looked better on a hillside.
