I'm not sure why I didn't post this at the time! As some of you may know, Davenport used to be a 55cm Obitsu before he was a Zaoll. He was my first doll, coming up to 2 years ago now, and unlike my process now I had the shell before the story. All I knew is that he was going to be LOOSELY based on the character of Ghost from Poppy Z. Brite's Lost Souls (among other stories of hers), but not actually Ghost.

His name was always going to be Davenport, that was a no-brainer, and since (who I bought him from) happened to have the pale blonde wig he still wears and some green eyes that looked very much like my own, he came together quite well.

Gradually he became friends with two of her dolls, Trystan and Stumble, and later when Lulu brought Kippen home, he and Davenport became lovers. I was always extremely proud of the way Davenport made people see the beauty in Obitsu's, he really was always a stunner and an exceptionally strong character.

A year into owning the Obitsu I started to think he needed a revamp, because he deserved it. Due to the doll's height and because his friends were all MSD, I made Davenport 6' 8", which isn't a MASSIVE stretch when his "mother" is 6' 2". He still wasn't entirely in scale but it worked well enough at the time. My problem was, finding a resin shell to replace the Obi that would be the right height.

I didn't really see anything that inspired me until I revisited the Zaolls. Long before I thought of reshelling The D I really liked the idea of having a Muse, but suddenly I saw the Luv in an entirely new light, and realised it could be Davenport.

ANYWAY... Long essay short, I took this photo when the Zaoll arrived after my lovely wife sanded off the breasts, to prove to my doll acquaintances who couldn't see it that the Luv sculpt really does look like a grown up version of that Obi face. I still think it does, and it remains perfect for him, in looks AND scale.
