I promised ALexiel-De-Vega [link] that I would wear a furisode over Thanksgiving Break, so here I am. This was one of the first furisode that I got years ago, and I had only worn it once so I thought I should wear it again. Funny enough, I discovered all of this new stuff about it that I didn't notice when I first bought it... like the fact that it's a chuufurisode.

A furisode is a kimono with long sleeves that is worn by unmarried women, but there are actually three different types of furisode that differ based on just how long those already long sleeves are. A kofurisode (ko meaning small) has the shortest of the long sleeves, and the length is similar to what was the norm for Taisho sleeves. Chuufurisode (chuu meaning middle) have sleeves in a middle range that go about to the knees or a little longer, and true furisode are the longest and go to mid-calf or ankle. There are precise measurements for these sleeve lengths, but I can't remember them.
