Description This information is outdated!  Things have changed.  The world expanded!
Please check out the group for them for more info-The-Breezie-Grotto

And for more information on this species and what's new please check out this journal: Information - Spinners

This is a CLOSED species for the time being.  That means do not make one unless you have permission from me.

What are they:
Spinners are a subspecies of breezies.  They are larger than equestrian breezies and are the only wingless/flightless breezie species living in the grotto.

Food:
Spinners are a big fan of insects and are the equivalent to bug pony carnivores.  Not saying they eat other breezies though.

Basic traits:
-Venomous Fangs
-4 Eyes
-1 Set of Extra Legs (6 legs altogether)
-Single Color Mane and Silk (must match each other)

Uncommon traits:
-'Insect' Eyes (resembles something like the changeling eyes.)
-2 Sets of Extra Legs (8 legs altogether)
-Spikes
-'Feathered' Legs
-Two-Toned Mane and Silk (must match each other)
-5th Eye (placed on the forehead)
-Back Fur Does Not Match Coat

Rare traits:
-Poisonous Webs
-Three or More Web and Mane Colors (must match each other)
-Summoner - (Elemental Ability)
-Glowing Web/Mane
-Scented

Ultra Rare:
-Astral

(More traits will be added later.)

Habits:
Spinners like to live in the old abandoned burrows and tunnels of others.  They don't like anything going to waste and will reuse what's not wanted when they can.  They like to live on their own, but aren't averse to close neighbors and family.
Crafting and construction are their main trades.  The extra limbs they possess make weaving and maneuvering through tight spaces easy.  The cloth they weave often has very vivid patters and, when made from a Spinner's silk, possesses a great strength not easily found in other fabrics.
Spinners do produce their own silk, and in the same way as the spiders they evolved their traits from.  It's sticky when first made and is excellent for hanging and repelling down steep cliffs.  If it's gathered and left to dry it does lose it's stickiness and can be used for crafting.  Unfortunately they don't produce their own silk too often.  Many Spinners take to gathering their silk into buns and bows on their hindquarters as a 'pretend tail' rather than just using it all the time.

Overall, though, Spinners are very spiritual.  They place a lot of faith in the nature spirits that govern the grotto and do their best not to upset them.  Seri, the high priestess, is the leader of the Spinners and the only one of the spinners who can directly communicate with the higher spirits.  They offer her guidance and she leads her people with that.

They possess a great respect for the land and will defend whoever's upsetting that balance.

-When their extra legs are not in use they fold them up on their backs, much like wings.
-Spinners will purr when happy.
-They can climb walls
-They have large ears to help with extremely dark areas.
-Baby Spinners are always very light, pastel colors.  They darken up as they get older.

These guys are a part of
Thanks to for helping me line a few of these in.

May I ask what their venom could do to a normal pony?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FuyusFox In reply to Nesema-Hrsate [2016-07-11 14:39:39 +0000 UTC]

Spinner venom acts as a sort of paralysis type.  It's good for small creatures and defending themselves against things larger than them.

For full size ponies it'd probably make the surrounding area of the bite rather numb and weak.  Getting multiple bites might make them a bit woozy and cause them to fall over.

1-3 stones is the average.  No more than that.

NoraVoracious In reply to FuyusFox [2016-06-01 13:53:26 +0000 UTC]

I also ask this because, I'm an advent player of DnD, I Run as many games as I can and, Really, you've given me ideas for a Campaign to run, hopefully.
And, I'd like to learn as much as I can before Stating up each race, and giving feats and such(If you'll allow me to do so)...Also I have a Spider Pony whom, I'm mulling about maybe trying to see getting her a Spinner version of herself, but, I'd like to know some things really because there's some parts about her that i'd like to keep and all.

We were actually talking in one of my streams how it'd be kind of fun to do a DnD thing with the different species.  hehe

Meh, if given time and info, I could help with stating things up creating feats, and making items and such.

Are there other rare Mutations that can happen with the Spinners, The Spirits that the Summoner's bring, can they do things like, harm objects, or other creatures, I know they are able to do simple things, Is there a kind of special quality that can be in some Spinner's silk, is it an uncommon thing or unheard of for spinners to make things like seed oils, or salves like that, They like to take over abandoned locations, but dose this mean they can make domiciles for them to live in, Is it possible for some Spinners to be, different then other Spinners in how they act and do some things. I have more Questions about them But I think I shall leave it here....I also have like a lot of ideas floating around in my head X3

I Really like the Spinners if you couldn't tell =w=

FuyusFox In reply to NoraVoracious [2016-06-01 13:59:57 +0000 UTC]

1.  There are other mutations planned that will appear on future adopts.
2. The spirits are of a lower class and can do very simple things but don't have a large impact upon the world around them.  That being said, depending on the spirit(s) that the spinner controls and how skilled they are they might be able to utilize them in combat.
3. Poisonous Webs and Glowing Mane both affect their silk.  There are no other planned traits at the moment.
4. They worked on their own for a while, and given their tendency for crafting they definitely could have been into oils.
5. Of course.  They prefer dark spaces though so they like to build their homes in abandoned burrows and tree hollows.
6. I mean, these are sentient species, so they will have different personalities.  All I ask is you remember their background when coming up with their personality.

Next?

NoraVoracious In reply to FuyusFox [2016-06-02 11:41:56 +0000 UTC]

Is it possible for some mutations to show up in ways different then the usual?
Would it actually be possible to get one of my own characters turn into a Spinner?
I know they don't produce a lot of silk quickly, but is there possibly a mutation in the wings, (or would be allowed) To let them make it at at least a slightly, or moderately faster rate, This actually ties into the second question.
They eat insects, But you didn't/won't say the eat other Breezies, Dose this still make other Breezie's a little uneasy?
How big can they normally get, and are very Large Spinners a possibility? (Also, kind of ties into the second question)
Do these Breezies actually make tools like Hammers nails and so on, if so I could Imagine the Spinners having an Affinity for tool making.

FuyusFox In reply to NoraVoracious [2016-06-04 15:49:23 +0000 UTC]

1. I allow minor variations to how some traits look, but nothing large.
2. While I am okay with you using a previous design for inspiration, I do ask that you treat them as their own character.
3. No plans for such a thing are in motion.
4. I did state that they do not eat other breezies on their ref sheet.  That being said, the only other race that partakes of insects is Wysps.  So other species might be a little grossed out.
5. Variations in height are allowed to keep characters unique.  An average spinner is between a wysp and a skimmer in size.  No extreme size changes though.
6. They can make whatever fits in with their environment.  I'm not going to dictate that certain species can only have certain jobs (save for Darters due to the hive mentality).  Just nothing high tech.

NoraVoracious In reply to FuyusFox [2016-06-04 17:29:11 +0000 UTC]

And, i've just lost interest in getting a spinner.
The one that I was hoping to get, I wanted to keep a few things from the other pony for her, and one of which was her abnormally large height. Not keep her near Celestia size, but I was hopeing She'd still be able to be 'very large' in comparison to other Breezies. and her abdomen stinger is probably a no go too huh?
Though it's mainly the height thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FuyusFox In reply to NoraVoracious [2016-06-04 17:50:31 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. I might swing a larger breezie depending on HOW large you wanna go. Wylla's the largest thing in the grotto. How would yours compare to her? (And no, sorry. There's no stinger trait for Spinners)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NoraVoracious In reply to FuyusFox [2016-06-04 18:49:31 +0000 UTC]

I'm pretty sure you're going to say no. Cause the one I wish to use, normally, she's a little larger then Luna, and when Standing on her Extra legs she's the size of Celestia. And I wanted to keep that in some way about her, Concidering she was made from my Earlier years, and that was a pretty big impact as to how I am today, so I felt she needed to be rather large. Besides being Shy, and a gentle giant. orig08.deviantart.net/06d9/f/2… This would be the results of all that...Though I feel, her more, Fluffy change might be a little more, appropriate besides the little winged back because that's pretty much a no. I, could show the fluffy changes, but, I'd have to note that as the entire picture it's self isn't finished and, I don't want any public spoilers to it.

FuyusFox In reply to NoraVoracious [2016-06-04 19:17:27 +0000 UTC]

This is one of the reasons I don't really suggest trying to turn an already made character into one of these. The traits don't always match what you want.

The most I could allow for height is about Hardstone's level.

Other than that she would have to match the rules of the species.

I'd suggest designing one from scratch since there are so many issues translating her over.

No Thank you. I wanted to kind of keep something, Mainly to my boyfriend, but If I can't I can't.
I'm still interested in working with these Breezies though, And if you really do want to have a DnD thing with them, I've DMed for quite a few years and more then willing to offer a helping hand in it, I've got Loads of ideas I can pitch before starting the process of actually stating it all together, Just need to know what System you'd like it for, or if it's something else, I'd need to be linked what you want to use for it.

They're so cute... Do you make adoptables for them? Also, if I buy common rights, do I have the ability to sell adoptables of them, as long as no uncommon or rare traits are used?

I do make adoptables of them, yes.

I am not selling any rights to anyone to make adopts, only myself and the co-founders in the group may do that.  You may purchase a make-your-own slot though.

When you say that they are closed for the time being, does that mean you will open the species soon? And if you are, when?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SwimmingWolf132 In reply to metallictarantula [2016-04-21 20:21:15 +0000 UTC]

In the future, all five types of breezies will be semi-open. You'd be able to make your own breezies, but we would set a limit on how many you could make. They could only have common traits, and you'd have to run it by the admins before it became an official grotto breezie. If you wanted uncommon or rare traits, you'd have to purchase an adopt or a custom.

We don't have a set time for when we're opening them, sorry >< Just keep your ears open, and it'll be announced eventually!
