Alright, this took so long because of many things but I'm so glad it's done.As soon as I started sketching this one I wanted to do some changing with the wings, and here it is. Chrysalis definitely has one of my favorite designs as far as the villains go.
This was completely animated in photoshop, so I apologize if it isn't 100% smooth. If you notice any errors just let me know. Also the file may be a little too big. Sorry
I'm not that experienced with animation but it's something I want to do in life so I figure I better start somewhere.

Honestly, this one nearly killed my computer just trying to save it, but it finally got done. I'm still in the process of getting a still image of this one done, but I will link it here as soon as I can. My computer just needs a rest before that can happen.

I think I just blew a gasket. When, just when, did you learn to do this?! This is above and beyond anything I could have thought possible, this is brilliantly, fantastic. I mean wow! Not just the wings, but that the eyes change with the wings, wow. I am so proud of how far you have come, and all of the things you have learned pursuing your dream. Man, I can't wait to see where your future is headed, you're absolutely astounding.

Well, they all have like... 10, 20 wings from all their MANY transformation stuff. Like these for example : images5.fanpop.com/image/photo…
Now, evidently their shimmering look is much more clear in the animation, of course.
But, still considering this was said as an observation... well, was the inspiration drawn from them, by any chance ?

Ah, I see.
I cannot say any inspiration was drawn from there as I've never paid much attention to the franchise.
The main thing I was going for is since this character happens to be a shapeshifter I merely wanted to play around with that a little bit. All the other wing designs that flash through the animation can he found on other ponies I've drawn, as linked in the description.
But I can understand where the observation came from.
