Description
Tried a different setup for this one, with a (hopefully) more pronounced foreground. More a test work for an idea than anything polished. Quite pleased with it neverthelessRelated content

this is a really good rough painting. but i can see many things that makes this piece good arent a consious choice because your more recent pieces suffer from composition issues this one does not.
here its clear that the focus ids this creature investigating the cave my eye gets directly drawn to the little creature because the contrast between its lighter color compared to what is behind is good. he seems kinda worried about something love the expression you used thereΒ just remember a light color close to a dark color create contrast.
for improvement i think the colors are wrong on the creature the light is relatively lightΒ so it will saturate some colors some more saturation on the head just near a higlight. all oyur paintings are missing hilights and the sense of materials is low
reference lizards you will see even if the light is relatively dim the scales reflect a lot so a lighter more saturated warm color would fit well on this piece to create that contrast of sturation as well and further show what is important in the piece which is this creature exploring the cave.
the midtone is always more saturated than the light due to how light work scales work this way as well notice on reptile pictures shadows in lighted areas are often very saturated and if light is strong enough the saturation is 100%
i would suggest you to do material studies it seems your just doing guess work.

That purple vegetation certainly gives it an exotic atmosphere
