Description She's done!! Mars' bod is and clothes are cotton weaves, her jacket is faux fur (obviously,) and her hair is SILK! Details are stenciled on with acrylic with hand-embroidered outlines. Like the other two dolls, her clothes and shoes are removable, as are her earrings, which are attached by magnets.

People I've showed her to so far seem to really like her jacket. I'm really pleased with her hair. Rather than cascading material like the other two dolls, I had to engineer a pattern that would create a solid shape, but not look like her hair was a part of her face (does that make sense???) Anyway, the hair was really hard, but I'm thrilled with it! Hope you enjoy!

Your like-like, my WALT DISNEY! Every thing you do I mean, your craft your art I'm just so inspired by you. I know this may sound silly but, life is hard now and my childhood dream is to become a cartoonist. Sometimes I just think I'm fooling my self, but then I think of people like you and your husban. I like Ms. Mars, and yes, the way you did her hair. She's quite the fashion pioneer, isn't she?

Good luck with the dolls and the series

I think they'd make fabulous line for some company that makes nice plush and dolls...it's a natural merchandising idea if/when the Galaxy Girls take flight. In fact, it might catch on quite well as a mass market product since rag style dolls for preteen girls are a rarity. Bratz, Barbie and their kin are all vinyls, - the closest thing to this is the home decor lines and that's just the pictures of the characters printed on things like pillows, etc. Not the same...
I think these dolls are wonderful inbetween,- not babyish as most soft dolls are. They would look right at home plopped across the bed pillows in a preteen girls' room.
Another 'niche' idea comes from the fact you make the clothes removable. Since these dolls are not as dimensional as Barbie, making clothes for them would be quite easy with little to no sewing required. Girls do like to customize their dolls and plush. If you offered templates or patterns for them, it might appeal to budding seamstresses. At first look Mars's skirt is likely to just a rectangle, and her jacket could be the double tube 'shrug' pattern. No worries about fitting like in a more 3D doll ( boy, how I remember making Barbie clothes) so there's more freedom to have fun with the fabric itself.
Anyhoo, they look great - now please if the spirit is still with you...make Jupiter next? I wanna see how you do her hair.

I've been meaning to reply to this post for a while. It is very encouraging. As you know, I've been working on Galaxy Girls on and off for a few years now, and it's been.... well, discouraging. Many people I have pitched to have said a lot of similar things to what you have said here, but nothing seems to happen. It's infuriating, really.

In those situations, I always end up questioning whether this is really as good an idea as I think it is. But the responses I've been getting to the dolls in particular have been lifting my spirits. Even though Cartoon Network is interested in the project, I'm starting to consider my other options--- going it alone with these dolls, specifically. It would be hard, but dealing with all the beauracracy of the studio system and big toy corporations pretty damn hard too.

The rights to MW&GG revert back to me in early March. I really want to protect my property, so I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do.

Anyhoo--- Jupiter is next! She's complicated, so it may be a while--- I'm quite excited about her hair! Can't wait to see what you think!

May I say that it is a great idea?

Or, even, since her characters are all from the same size, experiment like, "dressing up"one with accessories from another doll - as a choice to intereact/play together, so I guess!

I'm planning on taking some photos of all 4 girls with their clothes and accessories switched out sometime soon--- it should be fun!! When I put Milky's star earrings on Pluto, she is reminiscent of the band KISS!!!

ThatΒ΄s just like it^^

Lol, KISS - thatΒ΄s related with her, though...

Actually, the whole idea of the accessories could be expanded to avulse accessories too, and, also, models where the girls who would be interested on your dolls could sew their own( just like Shelley suggested above ); of course, since those models would be from your design too, those should be registered as well( I think that those "do-it-yourself" magazines - just like that german magazine called "Burda" - register their own creations by a similar method, but IΒ΄d need to search and inquire more about it in order to can tell you how, but that under that way...

Snazzy work! You should auction them off on e-bay. You might make a whole lot more then just $500.

Thanks! Quite a few people have suggested that I sell these. But when I really thought about it, they would have to be, like, $500 a piece for it be worth it. If I quit my job and made dolls full-time, it would still take me a whole week just to make one. I don't know how many people would be willing to pay that kind of money for a doll. I'm planning on using these hand-made dolls to pitch the characters to toy companies. Maybe I can get a version of them all mass produced.

Maybe just give one to Craig McCracken as a gift in the event that you DO successfully make the sale of the series. It's the least you could do for the guy with whom you collaberated on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Are you pitching this as a cartoon aswell? Cause I would watch it, and looks like a great idea.
