please read this if you're going to even attempt to argue meI'm fucking sick and tired of arguing this offline and on.
I don't give a shit what the "Bible" says, the Bible doesn't determine the meaning of the word animal.
GET THE HELL OVER IT!
Being an animal is based of biological properties, NOT BEHAVIOR, SPIRITUALITY OR INTELLIGENCE! In other words stop using the lame arguements: Humans have souls, cause wars, are smarter, have morals and any other bullshit related to our behavior.
THAT HAS NOTHING AND I REPEAT NOTHING TO DO WITH HUMANS BEING ANIMALS, DIMWIT!!!
Why can't you just look up what animal means instead of arguing using an outdated book?
Really would you argue that elephants aren't indangered because an outdated text says their population is fine? FUCK NO! So why argue the meaning of a word by using old text?
Meanings of words change over time, the definition of animal is one of those words and no amount of arguing with G-manluver will make your argument right.
You're wrong, humans are animals, you're wrong, too bad, so sad, use a dictionary, you're wrong!

So GET OVER IT. your faith is incapable of changing known information so quit with the "God made us special" crap because if you can't prove it (meaning first you'd have to prove God exist, than get him to prove he created humans than get him to prove he made them into a unique seperate lifeform from all other species) than you have no argument. simple right?

naw, luckily no one has argued this stamp yet though someone had argued with me before I made the stamp on the subject over a forum topic. But yeah I know plenty of nice Christians out there that don't shove their holy book down my throat but the ones that do seem to speak the loundest sadly enough

But yeah... That always seems to be the truth of things; I guess because the ones that speak the loudest really, really speak loudly. Like yelling. Our city council was flooded this year by the Mana church who were the ones who gave themselves the ban on the Dogwood Festival in the first place. e.e

D: never heard of the Mana church but I'm guessing they did something stupid to get banned from the festival (like the fundamental baptist Church around here that sets up at pretty much every event and try to convince everyone the mention of a "behemoth" in the bible was a reference to dinosaurs).

The Mana church is this HUGE (1,000+ members) church in my city. About seven years (I thinks) ago under the last head the people set up this booth with the other churches; however, they did not stay at their booth. They would come up to people and literally STOP them for an hour or so while they lectured. If people tried to walk away, they would keep harassing them, and a lot of people complained, and did not want to go to the festival. In order to not discriminate against just the Mana church, all churches were banned to keep the peace, and no one else has raised a fit about it, but the new leader sent his congregation after the city council to complain. He is shaping up to be a great leader too, huh? :/

Humans definately are animals just like every other living thing, setting ourselves above other creatures leads to destruction as we can all see in for example; animals going extinct, polution etc....

Like a few people have said before, I never realised this argument actually existed. That's incredibly sad. Ultimately we are the same as any other creature that flies, swims, or crawls on this earth. Sure there's the argument that we can build things, have math skills and can create; but these things are in the animal kingdom too. Look at bee hives, nature's own mathematics at work, or the egg, the dome being nature's strongest shape!
Ranting aside, this is really music to my ears, it's great to see so many who aggree with you.
This is sort of like the argument around birds being the evolutionary descendants of dinosaurs. It's not that hard to wrap your head around, and it makes perfect sense.
Hopefully there will be a day when science and spiritual beliefs can coexist (though right now doesn't look promising).

lol, not interested in marriage but none the less I don't get why people want to be something more than animals. Though I think its largely because biology education is really weak in North America, so people don't get that animals are classified as such based on biological component rather than intelligence or behavior.

I mean, I'm not Christian, but my family is. They may annoy me with their narrow minded views sometimes, but I admit, they're a bit more open then most...must be because we find science interesting. 8P

its sad really, I know and have argue with several Christians about humans being animals. They utterly refuse to accept it because they assume they are so "superior" that they no longer qualify as animals, I even had one say that even mentally retarded people knew something "so apparent"

I mean really, humans are obviously animals. Why are people so close-minded about it? And for that matter, who can say that non-humans don't possess those character traits, such as souls, language, etc, that humans have? They may just be in a form that humans can't understand. Humans think that animals are stupid creatures, but who are the ones that have corrupted the earth with toxins?
