The early rays of morning light began bleed into the cave. Vitani stirred for a moment but kept her eyes shut. It was far too early in her mind to be waking up and she would fight it if need be. she screwed her eyes shut trying to keep out as much of the morning light as she could. It was then she felt a stirring at her stomach. "oh no..." She groaned. A small pinch at her abdomen made her lurch upward fully awake. "Still getting used to that." she said looking back at her stomach where two young cubs were beginning to wake up. She leaned over and licked her suckling cub on his head. He was runty but at least he had an appetite. it had almost been 2 moons since she'd seen Priderock, she wanted complete privacy having her litter. It was an older tradition that had grown out of style. In the old times lionesses would leave the pride to give birth and only come back once the cubs were strong enough to leave their shelter. Kiara had insisted that Vitani have her cubs with her pride sisters support but she refused. She had always managed by herself just fine and having everyone hovering over her would only agitate her. Now here she was almost at the end of the second moon and with two strong and healthy cubs. Her little lioness, Mvua shakily rose to her paws and waddled over to her mother's paws. Her daughter was a fiery spirited cub and didn't take no for answer. if something she tried didn't work she kept at it...even something ridiculous...like using her brother as a bed. As for her son Jabari, he was smaller and was a bit of a pushover but if provoked enough he would warn her sister with one of his mighty squeaks. Vitani noticed how Jabari played with his new found claws and nudged his cheek. "careful squirt, those can be pretty sharp...they're pretty neat though huh?" she said watching him play. "we should be heading out soon.you deserve to meet the pride and Kiara will track me down if i don't return soon. you'll like the pridelands, I promise. it's a nice place." She looked out the entrance to the cake and her ear twitched as she focused on the sounds of the savannah. "I don't hear danger...or smell it. if there's a time it's now." She slowly rose to her paws and nudged her cubs forward making them assume their usual waddle as they all wandered out of their birthplace.
