Cute pone, and nice eyelashes. Her irises look 3D here--is that all material-based work, or is there some geometry lurking in there? Thinking about it is giving me ideas to play with.

Thanks! Yes the irises are behind a lens of sorts. Here's a quick veiwport/render comparison. I'm not super happy with how they look, especially from the sides. Β

Neat. Nice and subtle. Years ago on irc somewhere I saw someone doing pony eyes by taking a healthily-subdivided mesh that filled the eye socket, then applying some sort of modifier that seemed to let the verts flow over the form (presumably during rotation.) I guess that might have been the Shrinkwrap modifier in action.
