Description The night was a dull haze as Dean found he couldn't fall asleep, so he took the wheel and Sam went to sleep in the back. They weren't really bothered by Gabriel, Dean could tell the poor angel was exhausted and in his own little corner chillaxing somewhere in Dean's consciousness or whatever. Either way he wasn't bugging them.

There were times when he would randomly feel a wave of exhaustion crash over him for a brief moment before it was dispelled almost a second after. Dean was confused by this for a second but Gabriel had muttered something and it was then that Dean realized Gabriel was keeping him from needing to sleep at the moment.
There was movement in the passenger seat and Dean blinked when he saw Castiel in the seat.

"Hello, Dean," He said as he looked about as exhausted as Dean had felt a moment ago.

"Cass…where have you been?" He asked looking to the rebellious angel.

"Apparently I banished myself to New York…and I heard about Gods gathering at a motel…went there and found Gabriel dead, mind explaining that to me?" Castiel asked anger and sadness coloring his voice.

"Lucifer is what happened-" Dean blinked as Castiel cursed and grabbed fistfuls of his hair. He looked… distraught. Dean didn't think Castiel would be this upset. Gabriel got control from Dean before he could say anything else and he kept the car going, though it swerved a bit as he did and Castiel looked to him.

"How long have you been driving?" He asked. Gabriel glanced at the car clock.

"I lost track 26 hours ago," He muttered, Dean's voice hoarse from lack of use. Castiel blinked and frowned at him.

"Why haven't you slept?" He asked looking back to Sam, who was out like a light, a blanket covering him. Castiel then seemed to put the pieces together.

"You've been trying to get as far away from Lucifer as possible…You were back there… He died so you could get away?" Castiel asked, anger starting to creep into his voice.

"He was basically a sacrificial lamb?!" Castiel growled in anger, "You let Gabriel, my brother, the Arch Angel just…die?!" He yelled now, Sam starting to stir.
Gabriel sighed and chuckled and got an angry look from Castiel.

"What's so funny?" He asked, eyes flashing dangerously, the radio starting to go wild and haywire… Gabriel didn't respond at first.

"Dean," Castiel said sternly, eyes locking onto him, "What's wrong with you?"

"Heh. I thought you'd realize it sooner, little brother…Dean took the backseat after you asked how long he'd been driving," Gabriel laughed.
Castiel's eyes widened.

"Micheal?! He said yes to you??" He yelped and Gabriel facepalmed.

"No, you mook, it's me, Gabriel." He said, it felt odd though, for his name to be come from Dean's mouth with Dean's voice.

"But…your vessel…your wings they were showing..!"

"It's complicated…apparently Dean somehow heard my voice and apparently I was trying to get him to say yes so I could save my ass. Sounds like me." He was still exhausted from nearly dying, not to mention drained, but at least his wound had healed so he was no longer in any agony…
Gabriel muttered something and smiled faintly.

"What do you mean by apparently you got Dean to say yes? You don't remember it?" Castiel asked as Gabriel looked to his little brother.

"Nope…he said he heard me talking to him with my vessel's voice and then…well…C'mon I was dying, nearly dead, I didn't know what I was thinking, then out of nowhere I feel like I've been picked up and pushed and next thing I know, the brakes are squealing on this car and Sam's calling me Dean."

Gabriel fell silent as he kept the car going, glancing to the fuel gauge and noticing how close to empty it was. He saw a gas station up ahead.

"And since when did you know how to drive a car?" Castiel asked him, Gabriel just shrugged.

"I've driven a few for kicks."He said as he pulled up to the station.

"Keep an eye on Sam," He said as he got out and used the info rattling around in Dean's head to use one of the cards and fill up the Impala. He glanced back to Sam, who was still fast asleep in the back and figured he'd want some food sooner or later, so he went in to the store and looked around.

He reluctantly got one of Dean's favorite whiskeys because Dean was bugging him to get it, and then he went and got chips and candy for the two, pausing when he saw the bread and shrugged, getting that and a 24 pack of water bottles. He went to the cashier, who was a nice looking lady.

Too bad she was possessed by a demon. Dean and Sam really couldn't get a break could they? Gabriel wondered as Gabriel had pulled the knife from Dean's jeans. He was glad that Dean had convinced Sam to give it to him before he went to sleep in the back... He had to keep up appearances after all, he thought as he jumped the counter and pinned the demon to the ground, knife to it's throat.

"How did you know?" The demon asked him.

"Because I did," Gabriel said with a smirk, his wings made their first appearance, but very briefly as he put his hand to the forehead of the woman and used his angelic awesomeness to kill the demon. And he knew his wings had gone back to being invisible...

He stepped away, putting the clean, bloodless knife away, just killing that tiny little bug that was a demon had cost more effort than normal, but he didn't worry over it, because he knew why. Gabriel got up and offered a hand to the woman, who had woken. Gabriel was surprised that the demon hadn't killed her when it had entered her.

Though Gabriel was mostly glad he didn't have to kill anyone. He only killed those who truly deserved it, or unless he was forced to kill…Or in Dean's case that one time, when he needed to drill a lesson into someone.

Gabriel saw the woman hesitate a moment before accepting his proffered hand.

"You alright?" He asked as the woman looked at him with wide eyes. She must have seen his wings when they had briefly shown…

"Y…yeah…um…thank you." She whispered as Gabriel backed away from her and went back to the other side of the counter. He started to offer her Dean's credit card but she shook her head.

"No! I can't take your money, just take the stuff and go," She said, but Gabriel shook Dean's head.

"No. I don't want you getting fired. I don't think your boss would understand that you were possessed by a demon." He said, keeping his hand stretched out, "Though your gratitude is appreciated…now if you please…" He said and the woman reluctantly took the credit card and swiped it through, giving it back to him with the receipt and bagged goods.

Gabriel put back the card, and as he did so, made an anti possession charm, two of them, appear out of nowhere, and he brought one of them out, a necklace with the charm in the shape of a pair of wings.
You corny bastard. Dean muttered as Gabriel offered it to the woman who started to protest again.

"Do you want to get possessed by another demon?" He interrupted.

"No…" She whispered.

"Then wear this, it fends off demonic possession, and well, I made it myself, here…" And he went back behind the counter and she lifted her hair up as if she were to put it in a ponytail so he could put it on her without any hair getting caught. Gabriel brought one hand around to get one end of the necklace he held in one hand and then adjusted it and then fastened it.
He stepped back and went back to the food and whiskey and candy.

"Don't take it off, or you'll be vulnerable again, alright? Don't even take it off for a shower. It's waterproof." And then he dragged the stuff off the counter and left, though glancing back at the woman as he got into the Impala. He saw he fingering the charm and smiling faintly. Gabriel smiled and started the engine, the engine turning over and he pulled out of the gas station.

"So, how long do you think that demon had been there?" Castiel asked him as Gabriel made him put the stuff by his feet.

"Long enough," He said, he didn't need to bother asking why Castiel had been watching him.

He drove on in silence for a while before glancing back to the seat, Castiel still there, staring out the window as the sun started to rise over the horizon.

"Cass, get me a bar of candy, will you?" He asked and Castiel nodded, digging through the bags and opening a pack of paydays and getting out a bar of the candy, giving it to Gabriel, who grinned and opened it carefully with one hand and then taking a bite out of it as he saw the dawn of a day he hadn't expected to see 30 hours ago.

He loved watching the sunrises. It amazed him that his father could come up with something as beautiful as that, and yet most just took it for granted…He'd taken it for granted before, but not anymore. He concluded as the impala passed by a strip of trees. He saw Castiel tense, and understood why when he felt it too. He stared down the road as in the light of the rising sun stood Lucifer and a bunch of demons behind him…

It was odd really then well…not really odd when he remembered a verse from Isaiah as the sun rose up directly behind Lucifer…

Oh how you have fallen from Heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low nations!

It…kinda fit though, Gabriel concluded as he stopped the car and drove it in reverse as the demons ran at them… Lucifer's name translated to morning star…

Sam woke with a jolt at the sound of screeching tires and yelped when he saw the demons and Lucifer, whose wings were clearly visible in the morning light. Jet ash black, and in his hands he twirled Gabriel's blade.

"Pissant," Gabriel growled as he swung the car around and screeched down the road. He was in no condition to take on all those demons or Lucifer. At all.

"What did you do?" Sam growled as he buckled himself in, knuckles white as he held onto the back of Gabriel's seat.

"All I did was kill a demon! There must have been others watching back at the gas station!" Gabriel growled.

"Why did you stop?!" Sam yelled and Gabriel snarled.

"Would you rather I ruined the engine and have Dean chewing off my head?!" He yelled back.

"Damn it! Cass give me your hand…I need your help with this, I'm still not quite up to strength…" Castiel blinked but did as asked and grabbed a hold of Gabriel's hand.

"Sam hold on to the seat, it's going to be on hell of a ride."
Gabriel concentrated hard and he told Castiel what he was going to do, so that Castiel could properly help.

"That's going to leave both of us exhausted!" Castiel yelped.

"Would you rather get shish kabobed by Lucifer and his demons?" He growled as he made the car go faster so he could try and put as much distance as he could between them and the demons.

"Fine," Castiel muttered.

"In three….two….one!" And both angels released their energy at once, an explosion of white light bursting through the car and out into the still dark highway….and then they and the car disappeared…
