Description I felt very honored to be asked to do something for an friendly society (wow! what a nice translation of eingetragener Verein). They do a lot to inform about drugs. I have the impression, that this association doesn't condemn drugs and doesnt glorify them, they help, answer questions and seem to be in touch with the people, they want to help.
They do a good job and i liked the idea of what they asked - The society is called "The Alice Projekt", more info here:
www.alice-project.com/

Seriously, when I heard, I could work on a nightmarish version of alice, i got a bit... edgy. I like this weirdo-alice-game for its soundtrack and the settings, but i have troubble imagine how Mr. Caroll would have liked that. I think, Alice is a very sensitive topic and one can get easily distracted by its opportunities. I also would rate this picture not a very good version of Mr. Carolls ideas. I concentrated more on the work of the friendly society, than the novel.

I am not quite finished with this picture and before I send it off, I ask for your critique. Is that picture still understandable?
I am very eager to learn, what there is to improve and what you like.

It' about 70% watercolor + ink and 30% digital.

I love the definition in this piece! You've really worked hard on all the little details.
So is the title inspired by the song, the diary, or the actual Lewis Carroll novel?

What do we have here? I must say that this is an amazing piece of work I think that the water colors you used give it a overall tone that works very well for what you've done here. You've also managed to get a lot of detail into this. I love the collapsed clock and how you portrayed all the characters. Both the concept of the piece and the style you used are excellent.

I would not recommend that you worry too much about whether or not the good Mr. Carrol would approve of the dark-themed version of Alice in Wonderland. I obviously do not speak on Mr. Carrol's behalf, but he has always struck me as the type of guy who would care more about what his story means for every individual person then whether or not they got the message he was trying to convey. It's very possible that the story does not even have a message. You never know. But I do believe that he would greatly enjoy your work here.

Das ist so hubsch...! (I'm working on that aspect of my life, if you're wondering. )

I have a certain fetish for Alice in Wonderland... and I just ADORE this. It's the most detail Alice-themed composition I've ever seen. Is it just me or is the caterpillar longer than usual? Gah! And Alice is high on her tunes! And... I'm a little scared on figuring out the Mad Hatter's plan... Do I sense Michael Jackson in here? (kidding, kidding!) The color scheme's alright, the lighting is... If there's such a thing as being too detailed, then this might be it... although the details only make it more eye catching...

I just love this. Because of this, I'm going to be stalking you.

"Go ask Alice.."

Isn't that a book? I've only read the back of it, but I'm pretty sure it includes drugs too. I think it's about a girl who's life sorta goes down the drain after doing drugs.. I'm not so sure.

Okay. I'm not used to actually giving a picture alot of thought, in general, and having opinions on it's meanings and what not. Here it goes anyway, because I have this strong opinion about this picture.

Let me start off by saying that, it is definately a different approach from Carolls approach at thing, no denying that.
However I always have had mixed feeling about Alice in Wonderland. On one hand, I always thought it is just you know, a story about a girl with a wild imagination.
Although, there is alot of suggestive things in the story. The mushrooms, the drinks on the table, the catepillar smoking the hooka.
Although none of this makes me dislike it any less. I love the story, and Disney movie. I always will.

Your approach to the picture kind of, to me, gives it more of a drugish appeal.
I've never done drugs myself but I have certainly seen them in action, up close. I've seen what they can do.
The thing is, drugs have their ups in the beginning, like Carolls version, if it was indeed, one whole acid trip.
But the more you use, the more you will go down. This seems to be Alice's downer. Like everything isn't great anymore and she is kind of just wasting away and seeing the characters and this little wonderland for what it really is.
Everything is just kind of falling apart.
I love how the steam, or smoke or fumes (whatever you meant for them to be) are just rising up. And I love the color scheme you chose to approach this with. The green, blues, cyans. Just an absolute perfect color choice.

Great job. And enjoy my strange rant.xD

What an interesting thought to bring up. How would Mr. Carroll feel about these pieces of work that have come from his mind? Well, if I was a writer and I were to write a book such as this, I would be ... beyond flattered. There is no word for the appreciation I would feel that my work had inspired so much wonderful art. And it's only because it was written in Victorian times that it has the polictical cartoonist for it's artwork (the book that is, not any movie or anything). Had it been written now, I think you'd have been a good choice to illustrate his book.

All the characters are there, and the design for each character is very nice and original. Like your very own noticeble style. I'm not too sure about her left arm. I think one of those arms are the Mad Hatter's? I'm not sure.

I'm sure it's too late to mention anything about what you submitting it too. But this is a very nice piece of art work. And I thank you for drawing good Alice in Wonderland artwork.

Yay!
Eine meiner absoluten Lieblingsgeschichten von Gab!. <3
Jetzt mal in Bezug darauf:
