I love doing this, as a fan of Astroboy! I'll try to share this through the step by step process.Here's the original blue line pencils for an alternative cover of the comic adaptation of the upcoming CGI movie, to be published by IDW in 2009.

Is the guy in the back supposed to be Dr. Osamu Tezuka? If it is, that's awesome.

Yeah, but I'm afraid it will stay just as a sketch. Just received notes from the production of the movie, and now they don't want the Tezuka character in the cover, so I'll have to change him for Astroboy's Dad...
So you'll see a new version of this cover soon.

Que weno saber que hay compatriotas en eso...y pensar que cuando chico veía esa serie...cuando uno se iba imaginar que concería a alguien relacionado con la serie XD

Lo de la propulsión por los pies es propio del Astroboy original. En Chile nos confundimos porque creemos que Jet Marte (que tenía unas alas rojas para volar), es el mismo Astroboy. Pero no. A Tezuka le habían pedido hacer una versión animada para televisión de Astroboy, pero él no quería hacerlo a colores, así que inventó una especie de mediohermano, Jetter Mars, que es el que conocemos nosotros.

El personaje que está en el fondo es, de hecho, un científico que sale en la película cuyo diseño está basado en el propio Tezuka...

es genial como se adapta tu estilo al hacer una cosa así, siendo que no tien nada que ver con locke and key se recocnoce tu estilo a kilometros

estoy esperando la aprobación de parte de la gente del estudio, para proceder con el entintado y el color. estas pegas de licencia son con "doble filtro", deben pasar la aprobación del editor y luego la del estudio o compañía dueños de la licencia...
