Jamison was a valued "mad" scientist for Vault-Tec before the war, having hand in many of the plans for Vault experiments. Before the bombs fell he was in the process of building his own personal bunker under his house. His plan was to freeze his body in a chamber similar to those in Vault 111, and upload his consciousness to a computer. Unfortunately, the bombs came earlier than expected, leaving Jamison to skip many precautions before freezing himself. Because of his neglect to check equipment he awoke in the wasteland with severe amnesia, unaware that he was alive before the war, or that he worked for Vault-Tec. He kept an instinct for medical and technological skills, after being picked up in the wastes by traders he lived life as a usual scavenger/thief. He does often have dreams of his former life as a scientist, he dismisses them as simple reoccurring dreams and nothing more.
