Description
Alright, this is my last one... For this evening.I edited this one a little differently than the other pictures. I love the way the shot is angled and the clock tower is positioned in the background, it kinda reminds me of a poster for an old slasher movie!
I should note that I could never get a clear image of what the Scissorman's face looked like in-game. They actually claimed that he wore a cheap Halloween mask at one point early in the game. I was considering getting a cheap plastic mask and modifying it at first, but like I said, I couldn't get a clear image of how it was supposed to look, and I thought a mask would've looked too tacky. So I ended up wrapping my face, and I think that looks a lot better and resembles the cover art for the game better.
One thing I forgot to mention about the giant scissors is that when I was constructing them, I built them with this terrifying game art in mind: images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__c⦠For those die-hard fans of the series, that character needs no introduction. But for those who are less familiar, that's Bobby Barrows, aka the original Scissorman. Bobby Barrows was the killer from the ORIGINAL Clock Tower on the Super Famicom, which never saw official release outside of Japan in 1996. So there's some fun trivia for you all.
I wanted to get some drawing done this evening, but I'm too exhausted to and it's getting really late. That's too bad, because I'm in the computer lab, and I brought my supplies with me for nothing.
In other news, I'm very hungry right now. I can't wait to make breakfast tomorrow.

Scissorman!! Oh wow - this is such a great shot with the clocktower in the background! Good call just usingΒ gauze instead of a cheap mask - I knew exactly who you were when I saw the little icon ^^ It turned out great - awesome cosplay

Wow, thank you SO much for the fave and all the positive feedback! As I mentioned in the artist's comments, this clock tower was the centerpiece of my school's campus. When I started college, I always told myself I wanted to cosplay Scissorman and do a photo shoot right by the clock tower, I'm glad I went through with that.
Oh yeah, you know exactly what I mean then! I have seen a few cheap looking Scissorman cosplays in the past where the cosplayers look like they just buy a rubber skeleton mask and throw the costume together at the last minute. Even though I was guilty of throwing my costume together at the last minute too, I wanted it to look as good as possible as quickly as possible. x'D It's been very reassuring to get all this nice feedback and to know my efforts weren't a waste.

Oh I completely understand where you're coming from~! I once dressed up as Samara from The Ring with a costume that I had assembled the night before we were supposed to go to a con lol
You're so welcome Despite it being rushed, it still looks as though a lot of thought and hard work were put into it. So you deserve all the positive feedback you get

I'll have to check that out! That sounded like a really good idea on your part, from what I've seen, Samara has a simple outfit and appearance, and probably wouldn't require a lot of time and effort to put into making.
Aw, what a sweet compliment!^^ Thank you! Hehe, yeah it was kinda stressful, but man I had a blast putting this outfit together!

I still need to finish the original Clock Tower. I got a file going, but I've just been so starved for fun horror games like that, that I've just been letting it sit the past few years to savor all that fun, hehe. Sounds weird, I know, but I'm kind of a weird guy. xD
Thank you for the fave! I'm glad you enjoyed this little cosplay of mine. I should do some Clock Tower fanart once I get back into it.

it actually took me two years to finish the original Clock Tower. (with Jennifer and Helen right?) for the longest time I never made it out of the ... was it the museum or library? whatever that was in the first level where you escape out the fire door. a year later I finished it. its so cheesy but I love it! most of the games that I have played that stay with me always start out cheesy but I still love them. Clock Tower 3... it took me FOREVER to beat that damned game. you ever play that one? I mean, I played the entire game all the way to the final boss... and that is what took me 4 years to finally learn how to beat him. I am not bad at video games, and I would try a few times and fail and then not pick it up for a year before I try it again LOL it just drove me nuts "THIS IS THE END!" and then I die... I can't tell you how many times I heard the final boss say that before I killed his ass. once I beat him I retired that damned game. I haven't played it since XD Oh I understand though... I play a game and not play it for a while so when I do again, its like I am playing it again for the first time! It just keeps the feeling if you don't play it every day and all day. LOL oh yeah! you must do some CT fanart! It needs more love, far too underrepresented!

Yup, the original Clock Tower was the one with Jennifer and Helen (well technically, the ORIGINAL-ORIGINAL Clock Tower was a 16-bit Super Famicom game that came out a few years before the PS1 classic, ever hear of it?). Anyway, I know what you mean! *_* As a matter of fact, I've had my copy of Clock Tower since Christmas 2007 (that's when I really got into playing and collecting retro games), and I still got a long way to go! >_< I've actually put that game on hold for a number of years, but I must admit, it's not just the fact that it's creepy (even for today's standards) that makes you wanna stop playing, but it's a pretty hard game with a lot of those puzzles and figuring what to do, you know what I mean? oh, and yeah, the cutscenes are definitely cheesy, but that's one of the best survival-horror games of all time! Oh, Clock Tower 3, haha! That brings back memories!
Clock Tower 3 was actually the first one in the series I ever played, and I knew from the get-go that I'd enjoy it (which I certainly did!). But man, you're not kidding, my least favorite part of that game was that damn final boss! *_* I guess some of the other boss characters were pretty tough, but that last one was such a cheap asshole! Urgh, yeah, and when he'd kill you, he'd shout out: "THIS IS THE END!" Which really rubbed into the wound, urgh! Yup, I haven't played it since then either.
Alright, once I get some of these other drawings out of the way, I'll try my hand at some Clock Tower fanart. You're right, it's too underrepresented.

Actually my friend from Scotland had told me about it. I thought the one on PS1 was the original release, but she too said it wasn't. I have never seen nor played it XD. But I have heard about it in brief! Actually, I had only played the first one with Helen and Jennifer once because I found it frustrating XD. the beginning creeped the fuck out of me. If that is the one I remember... Jennifer climbing up the side of something and there was this giant alien like baby thing coming up behind her. Was that the same game? the first time I put that game in and seen that I was like "Oooohyeah... that is fucking creepy" XD
GUH that Lord Burrows, what an A-hole. When I finally did beat him, I was in front of my television (like a major idiot I must say) yelling at the screen like "YEAH BITCH! I KICKED YOUR ASS!!! YEAH HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT?! THIS IIIIIS THAT LAST ONE!" and never played it again! LOL!!! but that game frustrated me so bad it almost didn't seem worth playing just because of that fact.

I actually played a bit of the original Super Famicom Clock Tower on ROM a few years back. But within the past year, I discovered a very cool retro game website that specializes in repro games that never came to the United States back in the '90s. This website sells these amazing English-translated repro-copies of the original Clock Tower as if it were officially released for Super Nintendo, and they include these custom boxes and inserts! O_O Oh, but they go for $95 a pop (I've been trying to save up for one, hehe). I could send you a link if you're curious!
Back to the game itself! The bit of it I got to play on ROM was actually very frightening! For a 16-bit game, it's still very disturbing and innovative. I tell ya, games like that were ahead of their time! Now the version you played, the one with Helen and Jennifer, that's the one all us western horror gamers are familiar with! The first Clock Tower on the PS1 was technically a sequel the original Super Famicom version, and I agree, the intro to that game was so goddamn terrifying! Even today, I think the original Clock Tower surpasses most modern horror games in terms of how scary the game was and how helpless you felt due to the limitations with the gameplay.
Oh, imagine if they made a brand-new Clock Tower game with state of the art graphics and made the player just as helpless as they were in the old games!
Haha, I can definitely relate to how you reacted after defeating Lord Burrows in Clock Tower 3! xD I never got rid of my copy of Clock Tower 3, and despite any frustrations, I do have fond memories of playing it. But I must ask, have you ever heard of Haunting Ground, a PS2 cult classic that came out around two years after Clock Tower 3?

I'm very flattered! I absolutely love this series, it's classic survival horror at its finest. On top of that, my college campus had a convenient clock tower that I just had to use! I'm very happy with how this costume turned out, especially with how last-minute it was! xD
So again, thank you so much! Oh, and for the fave too!

Whoa, sorry for the late reply, but yeah! I definitely agree, Clock Tower is such a classic that most people have forgotten about in this era of watered-down era of horror games that happen to have more of an emphasis of action. Clock Tower had so much appeal for horror fans because it's basically like playing a slasher movie, good stuff!
Ya know, you should try doing some Clock Tower cosplay with a group of friends/fans sometime if you can! I'm planning on throwing together a George Maxwell Clock Tower II cosplay for next Halloween.
And again, thank you SO much for the encouraging feedback!

I love the editing you did in this!!! I think your interpretation was fantastic too, it is so hard with these older games to get the details right because the pixels simply aren't there to work with! But again you did an awesome job. Based on the photos you showed me I think it couldn't be any more perfect.

GangsterLovin In reply to g0ldfishl0ve [2012-11-30 10:09:54 +0000 UTC]
Oh God, yeah! *_* Like I said, they say he wore a cheap costume mask in game, but that just would've been too tacky. I guess it's kinda like what we did with Harry and Lisa for our SH1 cosplays. However, we had the luxury of some good 'ole 32-bit CG images to work with. Any CG images of Scissorman aren't that detailed, because they just show him in the shadows, and on top of that, the graphics are archaic, even compared to the original Silent Hill which was made a few years after.
Anyway, I'm glad you approve, Sanda! As you can see, I had lots of fun with this cosplay, and I'm very satisfied with it, especially considering the fact that it was last-minute. xD

Gosh I cannot imagine working with that! In a way it is more fun because it gives you more of a creative outlet, but for me, stuff like that is more stressful than anything because I love following a design that I can really work out perfectly in advance in my head. When I say perfectly I mean wanna-be perfectly lol XD Still, for me it is much easier to copy than to be innovative, so props to you for pulling it off like a boss >:3!

GangsterLovin In reply to g0ldfishl0ve [2013-04-10 10:25:50 +0000 UTC]
You're right, it certainly gives you a creative edge, and on top of that, I find that it helps if it's a more obscure character like the Scissorman, so people won't call you out on stuff they don't think is right. That's the beauty of hi-res graphics, allowing cosplayers like you to examine a character's outfit down to every last detail! ;D Like you said, it gives you a design to work out perfectly, and that's a great goal to strive for!^^
Yay! By the way, I'm actually planning on putting together a cosplay of the villain from Clock Tower 2 for next Halloween! ;3

I was able to get some drawing done, but it wasn't any Clock Tower fanart. Hopefully I can get started on something before I go home for the winter holidays. I kinda wish I had a tablet to color with, do you use one or do you still use just the mouse and computer?
Haha, you noodle-freak. I can't wait for breakfast tomorrow, I make myself hungry just thinking about it. (breakfast happens to be my favorite meal, hehe)

Well at least you got somrthing done then! Yeah i have a tablet didn't I mention that tch. I'd let you borrow it if I could HAH. Well you know coloring with a mouse is hard so when you manage to make stuff look good it''s even more impressive.

I don't know if you mentioned it, you've mentioned lots of things to me all these years we've known each other, hurhur. Well, if I can color as well as I do with a mouse, then I must be doing pretty darn good for myself. But still, I can imagine my drawings would look significantly cooler if I colored them with a tablet.
So you were a salad freak that day, huh? xD I agree, food time is fantastic no matter what time of day... I still really love breakfast, though. ^^
