Description
Old unfinished drawing that was hidden in a folder(was looking for something else). Finally finished it. This was an random idea of Merlock becoming good(kind of).Even though he would be one of the good guys, he still would have that grumpy attitude and use swearwords.
Other ideas were that the event could happen after he got defeated by Scrooge and losing all of his magic powers and an arm.
Eventually he becomes good and starts to use white magic(what it exactly is, I don't know yet). If you have better ideas, write it in the comments! curious to hear your ideas of what could happen to Merlock after the fall.

Two thoughts come to mind:
In Kingdom Hearts: He had... multiple encounters with a certain scholar of darkness over the ages... one who would make a prime "Candidate" of his. Merlock refused... but each encounter proved taxing, so Merlock took time to do some research himself and over time, mastered lost arts that can rival those of a lost weapon known as a "kai-blade"
In non KH style: Merlock tried to find a being that can rival a genie and control it... he didn't. Now it took something of his, so he depicted himself to tracking it and ending it.
Thats all I can come up with for now.

I like the KH idea a lot! And Merlock would be a great fighter too, since he is surprisingly fast for his size and super strong.

lol hmm I like the idea of him being mr Β grumpy pants Β the whole time. Maybe you can make him anti hero cause thats how i see him actually when I look at this picture, like he can help in his own ways that people dont understand but hate how he does it you know?

All the ideas i can think of are very hackneyed and play off the "Villain loses his power, becomes beholden to others, is treated well and learns there's more to life than the pursuit of power" But i totally love the idea of a grumpy but basically good Merlock

That's kind of what I had in mind, but that kind of story is used too much. maybe he fell very hard on his head and it erased all the evilness from him(maybe memory loss). But then I don't like changing Merlock, that's why I rejected the good Merlock idea quickly.Β But it is still interesting to see how he might would look like if he was a good guy.
But a neutral Merlock might work. But at the end in reality most people are pretty "gray". I like stories when they show a individual's character development and the motives/reasons behind their actions. Nobody is born evil or purely good. That's why I would love to see more about Merlock and maybe how and why he became like that. And the writing in today's modern cartoons and animated movies has gotten a lot better too. Even as a kid I didn't like when they slap villains there just to have a scapegoat, and no real explanation why the villain is bad. Most people don't want to be bad and it often takes a lot till someone does something really bad.

i honestly dont think he could become good after the fall, loosing a body section like the arm would be accurate. but i think the only good kind of merlock you'd be able to find is somewhere like in the 'Negaverse' from darkwing duck XD

OMG! I would love to see a Negaverse Merlock! He probably would be super nice and softhearted, giving food to homeless people, snuggle kittens and be super patient.
I agree with you! If so, he would be even angrier and try to seek revenge. And I like Merlock being evil and disgruntled. I wouldn't want to change him at all. That's why I lost interest in the "good" Merlock idea.

if he did, i think he wouldn't bother trying to keep himself alive after that fall. i think he'd be one of those characters that would be filled with desire for vengeance after the fall and the main characters wouldn't have any other choice but to kill him somehow XD since hes an old geezer i doubt he'd have any common sense going through his head
