Inspired by my all time favourite Doctor Who story, we have a piece where the Doctor contemplates doing the unthinkable and the weight of the knowledge of the pain and suffering the Daleks will bring if he doesn't cross that line. Of course, he didn't go through with it, with many of his future incarnations coming to regrate the decision he made but in this instance, we are reminded of how important it is to be better than the monsters in our world.

In an age where many franchise tend to go down a grittier path, making their characters more "ruthless" and "badass", The Doctor as a character never willingly went down this path. Yes, he has killed more than once in the show's history but that was only after he had explored and exhausted all other options, something which is shown brilliantly in this story. After failing to convince both the Kaled leaders and Davros to stop the development of the Daleks, the Doctor was forced to almost do the unthinkable and although he had both personal and historical proof of the terror these creatures would inflict on the universe, in his hearts he knew this action wasn't right stopped himself from succumbing to the temptation and I think that's why not only is Genesis my favourite story but why Tom Baker has been and always will be my favourite Doctor.
