I'm just sayin' it's possible. Everyone keeps referring to Law as a cruel bastard, and unpredictable. He's also definitely a man who prepares for every eventuality. Including the fact that their alliance could fail. You ever hear about that tale of the Scorpion and the Frog? Well I've always seen Law as the perfect Scorpion.
Wapol did that too remember. Doesn't faze me that much. Plus we don't know Big Mom's exact power. Maybe it's completely hollow inside. For she did say that her crew were to live inside her stomach. Knowing Oda, and seeing all the other times people were eaten in One Piece, I'm pretty sure she means that literally.

Yeah, but they made the build-up of the Fishmen Pirates practically worthless.
Plus, Shirahoshi is overrated.

Remember all the build-up there was around Hyozou when he was introduced? And how we were expecting an awesome fight, but only ended up as a two-hit kill by Zoro. That is what I meant.
I KNOW Oda did that to show how strong the Strawhats had become after two years of training. But for that to occur it made the Fishmen seem pretty pathetic by comparison. This is the same species that was able to throw houses at people, with only half their natural strength. I don't know, maybe I'm just bitter from the fact that Arlong made a better impression than Hody did.
Or maybe I just miss Zeo.

There was relatively little to no build-up around Hyozou, actually. Plus, Arlong's crew hardly fared any better against the crew than Hodi's. Hachi could only land one hit on a half-dead Zoro, Kuroobi was completely owned by Sanji on dry land, and I'm pretty sure Choo will never live down his defeat. Also, given the scope of what we've seen in One Piece, throwing houses isn't so impressive a feat.

Every single one of those were still a more challenging fight than what the New Fishman Pirates gave the SH. Arlong especially was really pushing Luffy to his limits, and even took a bite at his juggular at one point. Compared to that Hody's greatest achievment was to land 1 hit on Luffy's shoulder WHILE THEY WERE FIGHTING UNDERWATER. Fishman VS DF-user in an underwater battle, with that kind of setup it is just NOT ok for the main villain to lose that easily.
Hyozou was able to perfectly block Luffy's jet-punch and simultaneously nick Luffy's arm with Poison. That is a pretty impressive feat and it would probably have been really dangerous if Luffy hadn't picked up that nifty poison-immunity from fighting Magellan. There were reasons to expect more from these villains than what we got is all I'm saying. These past two arcs have been spend with Oda wanking up the strawhats by fighting 1 underwhelming battle after another.

Seriously, what is it about the term 'relatively' that people don't seem to get?
A) Yes, Arlong pushed Luffy to his limits, but those limits were significantly increased since then, making the distinction between human and fishman all the more insignificant. Hodi would have needed a better boost than some steroids would have given him to contend with Luffy, who could have mashed Arlong to paste with Gear Second even before the timeskip.
B) Hyozou could only roll with Luffy's punch because Luffy underestimated his strength. Plus, if one little nick is all he could manage, I maintain that Hyozou has had almost no build-up whatsoever.
C) Were it not for the Sea Kings, no one would have made it out of FI alive. I think a giant ship threatening to crash on top of them constitutes a significant challenge.
D)The Arlong pirates were not in themselves all that challenging. If the SH crew were at full strength and Luffy less stupid, they would have had an easy time of it.
E) I have not seen much in terms of 'wanking' in the Punk Hazard arc. I refer you to my previous reply to Screwinon's comment regarding that.
F)I don't see what's so underwhelming about these recent battles. I've found them a lot more interesting than the usual planet-busting crap that other manga tend to churn out, and I for one am glad Oda doesn't cater to the 'over 9000' crowd. Frankly such a thing would be beneath him.
