That giant snake is quite beautiful and would be a truly awe inspiring sight to behold. I can see why it is considered God of the Lake. ^^

This is so crazy! Everything you draw is so mindblowing and detailed. ahh I love your colors a lot
omg what if the snake is just normal sized and the boat is just a super tiny boat

It's a beautiful painting! I love your brushstrokes.
May I ask you how you knew which colours to use for the scales underwater? Did you just chose them as you felt it was right or is there a trick to it?
I don't really have problems choosing colours but as soon as I'm having a different light situation (ex. underwater, night, evening) I struggle choosing the right tones... >A<

Thank you! So I definitely was using reference to figure out how to submerge the snake. I had a few pictures of snakes in water, but none of them were white. Even still, the part of snakes in the pictures that was submerged in water would be much more unsaturated. That, and I wanted the water to appear somewhat murkier, so I made a less saturated, lighter, but also with tones of the surrounding water as a first pass of color. That didn't feel as right in my sketches however, so I got some more snake in water reference, which helped me to decide to add bluer tone, which the coldness of the blue helps pull that part of the snake back.
But if you need help with lighting situation, reference is your friend. In fact reference for everything! haha

I see. I often have the problem that I don't find suiting references...
Thank you very much for your help, though! <:
I appreciate it a lot!

It'd be a light snack depending on whether they want to also eat the boat or not

True! Knowing snakes, it could probably swallow the boat if it really wanted to!Β Β

hillerj In reply to gavi-gavi [2015-05-24 04:57:49 +0000 UTC]
It'd be close. I think snakes can swallow something that is up to 3 times as wide as their heads, so the boat should be within that limit...Β
