Thanks It's really cool how much of a difference a longer exposure makes on flowing water ^^

I'd had one on my mind and while the slow shutter full-lake view shots I got later on from the place we were driving up to, this one is great imo

It's really quite suprising what the ever so slightly slower shutter speed can do for a shot. If you think of it it's still just a fraction of a second yet it's beyond what we could even enjoy with the naked eye

It involved a lot of kneeling and bending over by the side of the road but it was worth it ^^ (to the greatest amusement of all the passers by XD )

i have done the exact some thing many times
usually in parks, however, off to the side of the path

I set out to try and get a silky water shot and luckily for me we stopped by a stream on the way to the lake

Very impressive, I like how soft the filter made the water look (almost looks like cotton). Beautiful location too!

Well the filter helped cut out reflections so the areas with less turbulence didn't also come out white but the main feature that gives that 'silky' texture is the longer exposure time with the relatively slow shutter speed (it was still quite bright but luckily the water was flowing fast enough )

It was also still warm at that time though starting to get chilly ^^ It's in the heart of the Mercantour nature reserve in the French Alps

This little American probably won't be getting that nap anytime soon then XD
I'm glad to know that it's as warm and lovely as it looks.

Thank you, the lake to which we were walking is also really nice, might have to dig through photos and see if any of the lake itself are dA worthy (Lac d'Allos, France)

Very good. If you're planning on taking more long exposure treks, be sure to get a tripod. Also, a remote will help becuase then you won't be putting pressure on the camera which could make it move and cause motion blur. Of course, an IS lens helps

Hehe thanks
This one actually was taken with a tripod which I'd also borrowed, I think I'll definitely be looking into getting one, it's basically a must in any situation where you have the time to set it up.
