didnt plan to release it as a wallpaper, but finally its done in high res enough. creat crystals in 3d not as easy as i thought. took me 3 days to get here.3ds max, vray.

Awesome! It's one of the coolest crystal 3d render i've ever seen. What courses have you followed to get that skills in 3dmax vray? Wish I had your knowlege to do that.

Btw, how long did the render take, and how many refraction bounces are there ? ;]

i used very few bounces around 4 or 2. i wanted to keep it transparent. it composited from 4 renders, each was around 30mins.

30 min ? thats pretty fast, and blue to puple coloer on thge sides, you used photoshop for that ? ;]

almost, one of the layers rendered in purple and mixed in ps. acutally the whole image can be rendered in one pass (except that glow effect) but somehow vrayblend was extremely slow.

thx, i used your small tutorial and your few passes blend in phototoshop idea to make a game version of tiberium crystals ;D Then only diffrence was that i baked the passes on the texture, and combined them there ;]

Fantastic! I love the slight hue changes of the crystals. Also refraction and of cours the global lighting are really to the point.
