made from yew wood
shot is taken right after finishing and before oiling and waxing
this way the wood is still lighter
size is 59 x 25 x 21cm

Yew wood, where is that usually found? That looks really cool with the different shades of brown

Thanks, Becca! I do love this wood. It is very vivid and the only conifereous tree that has rather hard wood. It was quite abundant in Europe, but as the wood is rather flexible and the best for bows most of the trees have been cut down centuries ago. These native population has therefore changed. Now we have them in parks, gardens and cementaries. One must be a bit careful working with it, as the dust is somewhat poisonous.

Actually from time to time and depending on the wood, I am working with fresher stuff. I didnยดt expect the yew to split. generally it does not check at all. Iยดll see if these checks close again.
