PERSONALITY.

Ling is a patient and down to earth individual. She’s open-minded and accepting, not one to be deterred by things that are different. Kindhearted and loyal, she’s fiercely protective of her loved ones. Carefree and nonchalant, Ling is the type to go with the flow. She’s cooperative and compliant and works well with others. She seems like a pushover at first, but it’s mostly because she just doesn’t care about most things. Despite her mostly quiet demeanor and introvert tendencies, she doesn’t mind the company of others. Ling is honest, tends to wear her heart on her sleeve, and is incredibly bad at lying.

On the other hand, her honesty tends to turn into harsh bluntness. She has a terribly cynical world-view, developed from millenniums of life experience. She has a history of self-neglect. She’s lazy and complacent, with no goals or motivations in life. She has no sense of urgency, and has a tendency to procrastinate on everything, from work to emotional struggles. Ling is a coward, who pushes her problems aside and averts her eyes from inconvenient situations.

MAGIC

Encyclopédie.
With her magic she is allowed to summon any item/structure from an encyclopedia. It doesn't have to be an actual book, as her current encyclopedia of choice is her smartphone which she keeps on her at all times. The larger and more complex the item/structure the more magic it consumes.

The only limit to what she can summon is that it must currently exist in modern society. Her repertoire of available items grows alongside human/alterna technology.

HISTORY

Ling was born as a natural born Nephilim. Abandoned at birth, she was picked up as an infant by a resurrected human named ████. ████ was a well-known war hero, a symbol of Hope who led and won many battles in the War of Divides as a general. Ling was picked up and raised to be her protege, to follow in her footsteps in the event she loses her life. Because of this, Ling was given a harsh and strict upbringing, and was educated in subjects ranging from shooting to the Art of War.

████ was by no means a cruel or heartless mother, however. Her guidance was strict but gentle, and Ling was a bright and eager child. She soaked up her mother's teachings like a sponge, and at a young age her talent and brilliant mind were clearly evident. The two of them loved each other dearly, and Ling would spend her days at home eagerly awaiting her mother's return.

Until one day, she never did. The news comes like a storm, and before Ling can fully comprehend what’s going on, her caretaker petting her head and bidding her farewell to go fight against the Fiendish. She waits patiently for her return, but as the decades and centuries pass, her hope wavers. When the officials finally one day show up at her door with grim faces, she doesn’t even shed a tear. The people around her give her nothing but cold words of empty pity. They were a hero. They died an honorable death. You should be proud. It’s not something to grieve.

So instead she is filled with unmanageable anger. Anger at the world, and anger at the caretaker who put their honor and virtue in front of their only family. After a century of mourning, she joins the military in a rash attempt to understand what it was that her caretaker held so dear. Her training proves useful, and she is an excellent soldier. She watches Seraphim and Fiendish alike all die and kill.

Words of her talent and promising future reach the ears of her supervisors, and she is selected to be among the few young recruits to be sent to Saint Spell to receive education and to find allies to prepare for the War against Gehenna.
