Somewhere near Narita, Chiba-ken, Japan. 22/02/2006

I was staying in a hostel in Narita city, some miles outside of Tokyo, and the place was a little empty. I had been in the county just one day, I was jet-lagged a little still, had visited one of the largest (Buddhist) temples in Japan already, and the excitement of the city was a little dampened by the fact that there was no-one to drink with!

So I sat in the hostel with a flask of rice wine (donated kindly by the vending machine outside and heated too! I only put it in a flask! ) and the owner comes up to me, and asks me if I want to see a really good looking temple. So, says I, Absolutely. So we hopped into his little 600cc minivan and cruised out into the countryside.

This was the view that confronted me when we arrived. I had assumed it would look good, but not this good! I can only hope I manage to convey just how beautiful it looked.
