yup ... I too loooove afro, along with "dark" skin, of course ... I'm glad you're not totally pissed by the (to my opinion) obvious "racist view" of those asian game developers - they just don't know better, 'til they experience it themselves in the "western world", hehe ... so yeah, it's pretty funny anyway

I have quite a bit of experience with people of the "Japanese" mindset. One family of immigrants from Japan went to my school. There were three girls and four boys, they were all child like obsessed with curly hair and dark skin even though they were middle schoolers and old enough to know that's inappropriate. I don't think there was any malice in it. One of the boys actually called our art teacher who was black "Poop Sensei" once which I felt was crossing the line way more than just touching her hair without permission, but she handled it really well and maturely. I don't think it's outright I'm better than you racism. It's I've never experienced this and it's weird racism. It's still treating someone different because of their race and being real immature, but I don't see hate in it. I haven't talked to any of those kids for like 10 years now but I'm sure they've adjusted to American culture at this point, and they grew up in Detroit. They're not weirded out by black people anymore, I guarantee it.

I love afros for everyone though, they're a beautiful and strong hairstyle. I would love to wear one, but I won't. Not with today's climate. I grew up in a school where no one was allowed to have "curly unkempt hair". I had to straighten my hair too, but it was not targeting ME. It was targeting the countless black teachers and students. I may be allowed today to have my natural ringlet hair, I could even be allowed in my job to have an afro if I wanted it, but those countless black kids and adults that can't wear their hair how it grows out of their fucking heads at work or school, they deserve that right too! Until everyone, and I mean everyone has the right to have their hair how they grow it or even want it, I won't have an afro. The excuse they used to ban curly hair at my school was because it was distracting. If everyone had pink or curly or spiky hair it wouldn't have distracted me. What really distracted me was that everyone was the exact same. Same hair, same uniform, same thoughts and beliefs. It was absolutely terrifying.

well ... compared to the average (irl I'm a kinda "Jimmy Fallon" type of guy), and they just lack a "grandpa" icon

btw, I you wondered about the short answer, I experienced that some of the younger ppl here don't like to be disturbed by the elderly too much, lol ... but yeah, many thanks for sharing your thoughts here, I really appreciate it, especially since I live in Europe, but I'm just totally curious about how ppl on the rest of the planet view things (and not to mention, across generatios) ... and dA turned out just to be perfect to randomly get in contact with ppl of all kind all around the planet, no matter of age or color or political views (or weirdness, hihi)

I don't really understand what you mean by "disturbed by the elderly". The only time the elderly disturb me is when I'm trying to get my gran to brush her teeth and she throws stuff at me. I don't see how you can disturb me over the internet. But like, you don't need to self censor yourself, at least with me I think. I enjoy our talks even if they're not always happy. They're enlightening.

see, I experienced over the time (of nearly 2 decades here), the younger ones, before they grow old themselves (lol), usually don't like "patronising" comments, or even being watched (too closely) by ppl who could be their parents, uncles, grandpas or alike ... same irl, and especially, if these "watchers" turn out to be male, which usually rises "some mistrust", which is definitely good, because here at dA, I relatively often observe "pedo guys" and other "perverts", who offensively search contact to the younger ones who wouldn't expect it ... that's why I,  a totally childish, "emotionally naive" & anarchic brain, but captured in a body of a some 60 yo, usually try to be extra defensive in this case
