Description
If the world was nice and easy, I wouldn't have to do this because its a very tedious method of cleaning lineart from an outlined sketch. Anyway, this is a sample of an artwork I am working at the moment...cleaning up the lineart. All I used to clean up this sketch was eraser and brush tool and wahlah, it looks much better :3I don't know why I bother with this method, but I don't feel like linearting with pen and because I like pencil texture with this type of picture I am working on I just stick with this. Also the accomplishment is a good feeling for me XD;;; As I mention, I don't use this method with a lot of my drawing, because it is VERY time-consuming (takes about 1-3 hours---esp that corrupted FFVII AC artwork I lost). So I wouldn't recommend it to people who want to color right away.
Stole the method from Hyung Tae Kim's lineart tutorial :3

Actually is there a easy way to make clean lineart (other than erasing the lines manually which takes too long). I tried to ink it on paper and erase the pencil lines, but when it scans it looks all ...not neat. I'm just wondering because I see all the artwork where the lineart is perfect.

Excellent! My lineart looks THAT messy. I've been trying to figure out for years how to clean my sketches up. Perhaps this isn't how other people clean up, but it's a start
I should try this!

I have a very soft spot for sketchy-type pictures. But, I guess linework cleanup is useful for the CG process. Anyway, interesting insight into "how-it's-done". I likey.

Lol. I use the eraser and brush! They are my best friends...
But I usually don't make it AS clean as you... o_O Damn...
(I like the pencil-y texture too. ^^)

I prefer the disney method ^_^ Sketching in blue, and the doing the final pencil in black, then you remove all the chanels but the blue, et voila a clean an perfect line ^_^ It works really good and itΒ΄s faster, anyway this is a good method

yep, but iΒ΄m masochist and i usually ink all with brush (over a vegetable paper, itΒ΄s clean and you can hold your pencils without destroy it)

hmm..I know what you mean with prefering pencil over ink in line art...althopugh I dont usually use pencil, I do like how much crisper the lines can be, and the texture too...
now I feel like doing more pencil line art!

Gem. why not just create a new layer above the lineart and simply brush with the lineart on a lower opacity? Then you don't have to deal with the tedious erasing
You can tell me to mind my own business if you like, as I know there are tons of ways to create clean lineart

Hmm... I don't really like the lines created by the photoshop brush (they're tooo smooth) so I like to keep the pencil texture in my lineart. And that's basically just redoing a lineart on computer.

Ah, but smoothness is better for professional work, which *is* exactly what your work is

Wow ... that is actually the same exact way that i do lineart X3
And I am working on cleaning up a sketch just like that right now ^___^ ... It's Samurai Champloo fanart
And you are most certainly right ... it does take quite a long time to get things done this way .... I just want to start coloring it already *sigh*
