The Krag was the standard issue rifle for the Equestrian Empire ruled by Queen Faust. When the country split into the Solar Empire and the Lunar Republic the Krag was used by both sides due to it been in great surplus. However it was more common to see the Lunar Republican Soldiers carrying the Krag into battle, Specifically the Capallan Volenteer Regiments like the 69th Manehatten Infantry Regiment.

well when the Queen passed is roughly about the time Luna became Nightmare Moon. for the 1000 years Celestia ruled Imperial Equestria. Some time after the end of the show there was civil unrest in Equestria and the Corrupt Lords and Regents did not want political reform that The Princesses were about to instigate, so they hatched a plot that would ultimately turned both sisters against each other. When the Equestrian Civil War ended Celestia was exiled from equestria for ten years and the Lord and Regents that instigated the conspiracy were rounded up and put to justice for their tyranny against the citizens of equestria. In my mind Celestia was never a tyrant how ever the Nobility that ruled over the fiefdoms of equestria were.
